MMMM + OK, I can’t complain about my weekend

Although I really don’t want to be here, I had a nice 2.5 days. So Friday, I worked a couple hours before going to Isaac’s 8th grade graduation ceremony. While I think it’s a bit silly that we have ceremonies for every little thing now, it was nice. Isaac got a medal for maintaining A/B honor roll and they unveiled the Cross Country banner – finally! The team won the last two years and I kept waiting for it to go up in the gym. His name is on it! The three of us went to lunch after and then I took a brief nap and then finally tackled the pool. As I vacuumed, I got angrier and angrier because it was just me doing it. Granted, I didn’t ask for help; I just expected people to see me working and pitch in. So I kind of got unreasonably annoyed and huffed and puffed and went to Walmart by myself to get clarifier and bags of salt.

And despite that, I was able to get the pool to the right place and then I felt really happy about it. That evening, Ash and I had a meeting for brew club and I do think we got some good work done for it, but it’s getting to the time of the year when everyone’s busy so they’re bailing on certain tasks. Anyway, we went to Lake Tribe for a beer and to see one of the club members sing. He was…ok. It was not my idea to go out there. LOL. It rained that night and around 10ish, power went out. Decided to just go to sleep. No point in waiting. Kids were a little annoyed by it but they did ok. I think it came back on around 11:30; I woke up briefly when it did then went back to sleep until 1:30 when I realized the lights in the hall were on. Got up and turned them off, closed the kids’ doors, and went back to sleep.

Saturday I got up and started on a few small pool tasks and then Ash and I brewed the last kolsch. That went pretty smoothly. I made sandwiches and we watched movies and I was somehow in kind of a bad mood – I just started looking around at other stuff not getting done and getting irritated about it. But I moved past all that. We did watch a pretty good new movie called Snack Shack. It was surprisingly good.

Sunday morning, I worked on some laundry, cleaned bathrooms, took a one mile run, and then made a kind of early lunch, since we had a girl scout event at noon. That was pretty fun and when we got home, we just watched movies. I feel like the afternoon got to be a blur; the kids swam for a little, which made me really happy. I fell asleep in my chair pretty early, as I recall, and I needed to sleep. I’ve been stressing about so many aspects of my life, sometimes that’s the only respite.

This week’s theme is songs that make you think of your mom. I can do that!

My mom hated disco and that was about the time she got into country. So here’s a song I think of when it comes to her, and then another that will always remind me of my mom.

  1. Take It To The Limit is one of my favorites : ) I’m glad you got the pool sorted and I’m sure that feels good. There are moods. Sometimes for no reason but hormones, the weather, and not enough sleep can definitely affect mine. I am all about a great nap! Have a nice week!

  2. I wad the person to clean the pool most of the time. When my brother and his first wife lived at my parents home, rent free, they enjoyed the pool but never cleaned it. That made me angry so I hear ya. It sounds like you had a nice time on the weekend as always. Love both songs…I thought you’d put something disco here.

  3. Enjoyed both songs. Although I’m not a country fan, I like the Eagles and Travis’ song had a nice beat. Yes, your Mom had good taste. I haven’t had a pool since the days of my then-young son’s kiddie pool. Alana ramblinwitham

  4. Travis Tritt is from this part of Georgia. Not that it means much, but I think it’s kind of neat. His family owned a lot of the land in this area…
