Figured I’d do this today since time is crawling by and I don’t have much else going on.
1. What inspires you the most?
You know, this is kind of hard to say. I sometimes “confuse” motivation for inspirations. For me, I am motivated by accomplishing things. Inspired sometimes by art or other peoples’ accomplishments. But then I’d still need to be motivated to use that inspiration to get started.
2. How do you think the world will change in 20 years?
Change seems to happen slowly so I’m not sure. Hopefully our economy will have turned around and maybe society will figure out how to be better. Though, it probably will just be worse. For me personally, I’ll be 65, my kids will all hopefully have gotten off the ground, married, had kids. I really really want that!
3. Cats or dogs and why?
Dogs. I am just not a cat person; don’t feel drawn to them. I enjoy dogs, usually ones without a lot of fur. But I don’t want any pets.
4. What is the funniest memory from your childhood?
The first thing that came to mind was when my family and I watched Captain Ron for the first time. The scene where they’re at a carnivale and the guy’s eye pops out made everyone laugh and it just struck me as such an awesome time with my family.
5. Where do you not mind waiting?
Really, I could not mind waiting many places but I have to be in the right mood. I remember waiting for Elliot’s soccer practice to end many days in the Fall of 2022. Some days it was fine that coach kept them 20, 30 minutes longer. Other days I was tired from having worked all day and just wanted to get home. Sometimes I’d have to get Isaac from club soccer practice; he had the 5:30-7 time and I came from an 11 hour work day and then waited in my car for him. I was sometimes exasperated and other times, it was nice to just not be at work and I was anticipating seeing my son. (I feel like these things are proof this job was never really for me.)
6. What was the best thing before sliced bread?
Ha! I think the answer here is whatever technology people found novel at the time. It’s always changing.
7. What product would you stockpile if you found out they weren’t going to sell it anymore?
Hmm, probably gas. That’s a boring answer, I know, but think about it! With gas I could run a generator, my car, etc. If they stopped selling it, we’d be living in a much different world!
8. What do you get every time you go grocery shopping?
Every time? Probably a container of strawberries. If not that then ham for sandwiches.
9. What do people do too much of today?
Everyone is way too wrapped up in themselves and their lives within the internet. We don’t spend enough time with people in person.
10. Are you a GoodWill, or any second hand store customer?
Yes. I give away a lot to thrift stores and have no issue shopping there. Sometimes it makes sense to. I like to go to Goodwill for work shirts. I can always find them there.
11. How do you feel about the death penalty?
It’s a harsh punishment but sometimes it fits the crime.
12. Are there brands of certain items that you will ONLY buy that brand?
It’s not that I would only buy it, it’s just so easy and the quality is there – the Costco version of bathroom wipes, toilet paper, and paper towels.
13. What are some things that you will buy the Store brand, and find the quality to be great?
As above, the Costco versions. I’ll get Publix brand stuff too, like their version of Wheat Thins. Totally the same.
14. What is a Name brand item that really disappointed you recently?
Not recently but I remember people saying Huggies baby wipes were good but honestly? I found them to be too thick and didn’t wipe away as much as the Publix ones.
15. Do you wear glasses or contacts?
I wear readers now, since I had distance correction when they removed my cataracts.
Hmm. I love the Nabisco version of Wheat Thins, but I’ll admit I haven’t tried the off-brands.
#11 – how do you feel about the number of people they have discovered, after it’s too late, who were executed but who were innocent?
You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet? I know that sounds awful but what do we do with people who are THAT bad? Keep throwing money into a crappy prison system to keep them alive?
From everything I’ve read, it costs more to execute someone (because of all the legal fees) than it does to keep a person in prison. It just doesn’t make any sense to me to say it’s OK to kill innocent people accidentally just so you can kill bad people deliberately.
Hey, to each their own. I know I’M not doing the killing so there’s that!
