Wednesday ‘Podge – Of skills and second chances

1. What’s a skill you think everyone should have?

Hmm, well, I know we are all different but if we are being honest, I think everyone needs time management. I hate that people just come late to stuff, and never even let you know, for which there is NO excuse because everyone has phones.

2. Do you have a special place or organizational system for gift wrapping? Do you still buy ‘real’ cards to send for birthdays, anniversaries, get-well, etc?

Eh, not really. I keep the rolls of paper in my walk-in closet in this little corner. For Xmas gifts, I will take things down to the kitchen table and work there but Monday, I wrapped Isaac’s stuff just in the closet. I send card sometimes, but not as often as I used to. I will give a (cheap) card for kid birthday parties and to my own kids on birthdays and Christmas.

3. It’s National Banana Day…are you a fan? What’s your favorite thing to make with bananas or, if you’re not a cook, your favorite thing to eat that contains banana?

Yes, but ONLY if there is still some green on it. If it smacks of ANY brown, no thank you. I love banana pudding, that’s for sure. But generally, I’ll just eat one as a snack.

4. Do you believe in second chances? Elaborate.

I believe that for the most part, everyone deserves one but it also depends on the situation. If you, say, molest a child, I’m not really sure you do deserve one. But again, depends on the severity. In terms of other stuff like if your friend betrays you, I think it’s the Christian thing to do to give them a shot as redemption but I also believe in giving someone enough rope to hang themselves and half the time, they do.

5. What is your idea of fun?

Hmm, hard to say because as an adult, the feeling of “fun” is so different than that of a child, where it’s more like the pure exhilaration of something like movement or just a new experience. I guess for me, fun is going with friends to trivia night at a brewery or maybe game night, or exploring a new town.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Well, I feel like my preliminary interview went well yesterday. The recruiter guy passes my info on to the hiring manager and then I hear back as to whether or not I get a subsequent interview. Seems like a cool job but then again, I’d love to stay working for the state government so, we shall see.

Have a little shorter day because I’m taking my oldest to the foot doc. He’s dealt with ingrown toenails for a while and we are finally doing something about it. I’m also planning to eat a keto meal today (and probably tomorrow) and then tomorrow, since they’re having the typical House appreciate luncheon, I will go home before noon, squeeze in a run, get a pedicure, and then clean up around the house. Is it sad that I’m excited about that? I mean, the cleaning part. There’s so many little things that need to get done around the house and while I have plenty of time, I don’t seem to make it. So that is what tomorrow is. I’m looking forward to it!

  1. If I’m planning on a ‘cleaning house’ day I can get excited about that too. It feels good to block time and get it done! Hoping for a second interview for you! Have a great day!

  2. I have lots of time to clean house, but I end up doing other things. Today is loading the car with giveaway items. I do need to sweep so hubby can mop! We share housework since we are both retired. I had a keto breakfast. I am trying to cut back in my sugar intake. I hope your son feels better after his procedure!

  3. I’m glad your interview felt good. Anymore, it’s nice just to get invited!

I actually get “excited” about cleaning. I focus on the end result, stream a podcast or book. It’s what counts as “me time” these days! Enjoy!

  4. Glad the interview went well and I hope you get another call. I, too, enjoy exploring a new town. Your description of your time with friends sound fun.

  5. Yes, people should not be late for things.

I like a little brown on my banana.

Yes, it does depend on what they did.

Those sounds like fun things to do.

Hope your sons toe is okay.
