Friday Five – Taking it one minute at a time

  1. I was woken up by the sounds of barred owls staking out their territory this morning. If you have not heard this, it is quite irritating and nothing like their typical “hoo hoo” sounds. Go to about the 1:20 mark. It’s super annoying even though I find the owls fascinating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ioHWj-ZcI. But then, I was all “Oh it’s probably only like, 4; go back to sleep.” But just then, my alarm went off. It was actually 6. Sigh.
  2. We did trivia at Ology last night and of the four rounds, our table won two. (Granted, we had 10 people.) I think the average team there last night was not the brightest. We suspect the smart ones are playing at other breweries, since – I THINK – three others also do it on Thursdays. BUT, do they have the kid who played Cousin Eddie’s son in Christmas Vacation as their host? I think not!
  3. As you know, I’d been stressed about my SNHU classes. I didn’t get one this term so I was putting off checking email for fear I was getting screwed again. Well, I checked this morning – bit the bullet – and the woman who does scheduling is still working on it and sending out assignment letters next week! A huge sigh of relief. But, a little more luck and prayer here and maybe I will get one class and can go back to normal. I have worked for them consistently since 2010 so this was quite the blow. And maybe, if fortune may shine upon me, I can go back to getting two sections. That money is just extra so we can do stuff like get a new fence. Come on, lady luck! I can’t tell you how much this eases my mind anyway. I mean, it’s not in the bag but that’s way better!
  4. Ash and I are meeting friends at noon to watch March Madness games and I am excited about it. It’s nice to pop in and out of different friend groups. This is one we last saw, well, at our Christmas party, but before then, we did a brewery day in November. I’m glad they thought to invite us to this because I do like watching basketball; I just stopped being into NBA a couple years ago because I think I just outgrew it. I used to love it though! But since I don’t have a college team I care about, I can just enjoy the sport/competition.
  5. Because we plan to be there a good portion of the afternoon, I am treating myself to a little mid-morning breakfast here at work. The cook at the bar we’re going to doesn’t get there until 3 so I’m planning ahead. I just can’t drink beer on an empty stomach; it just sends me in a bad direction. I.E. drunk and tired after only a couple! Anyway folks, hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. If I was awakened in the middle of the night by barred owl sounds, I’d think it was an alien (or monkey) invasion! I’d never heard them before, we only have the hoo hoos around here. Very cool. I’ve heard that animal sounds are typically all about sex – getting it or having it.

So your possible SNHU class(es) will be for summer term? Fingers crossed!

  2. Those owls are some kind of noisy…

I’m hoping you get a class assignment. Sending good thoughts your way.

Have fun watching basketball tonight. I’m no kind of a basketball fan, but it can be fun to watch while drinking beer, which I did plenty of one year.
