Writer’s Workshop – No, I don’t think I would

OK I’ll do the food one because why not?

If you could take a pill and eat food all day without absorbing calories or nutrition, would you? If so, is there any particular food you’d gorge on?

I actually sat on this a while because I wasn’t sure. The old me would have said yes, because I love to eat. But the me that got into intermittent fasting realized I don’t need to eat all the time. So if it were possible to not get calories or nutrition, my rational brain says you’d still feel full and I definitely don’t want that. One thing I learned about IF is that you just generally feel better when your body isn’t digesting all the time.

And even though I do love food, I don’t know if there’s any one food I’d gorge on. Though now that you mention it, I was thinking about sushi this morning. My son and I might go out for it later next week and I was planning what I want. At this one place we go, if you order the big roll, e.g, a Dragon Roll or some such, you get a basic one for free. This isn’t the best pic but if you look in the foreground, that’s a big roll and the free one.

But I have to say, whenever I go and just get that, I still find myself hungry. I don’t know if rice goes right to your feet or what but I always want more. So in an ideal world, I would eat, like, this amount:

It’s just too good! And made better by the fact that my son likes it too and will eat it with me when no one else in the family will. I have a couple friends who go with me and we always enjoy it but we cannot seem to pin down a date for eating it so, my son it is! The photo is from ’21 but still a good example.

  1. Wow! Did you make all that sushi? I like it, too, but I worry these days about raw food. I no longer eat raw oysters which I love. I saw this thing about taking a pill and not exercising. I can’t imagine that giving the mental satisfaction of exercise. It would be great for old people, though, or people who are handicapped maybe. I would not want to take something like that without long term testing. I am a foodie, too, so I love to cook and eat.

So they have a pill for weight gain and one to replace exercise. And let’s see Elon says AI is going to make everyone rich, but nobody has to work. Hmm. What would we do all day and how would there be any personal satisfaction in a life like that? Plus AI terrifies me. He also claims to be working on something that will keep it from ending civilization. I hope so. Man.

    1. No, I did not make all that! But I agree that the easy way out is never as good as it seems. Ozempic is a good example; that stuff has crazy side effects and they can’t even figure out how it works! No thanks. I’ll do it the old-fashioned way with healthy eating and exercise.
