MMMM + That was quite the weekend

On Friday, I was saying to someone that we had no true weekend plans (save a loose Friday evening one) and that they always materialize. And indeed, they did.

So I got to leave at 5 on Friday, which was nice. In fact, I left at 5 Thursday too. Anyway, the plan had been to go to Growler Country for their Founders tap takeover but then Ash went to help a friend brew so I wasn’t sure he’d still feel up to it. But he was so we got there about 5:50 or so and it was barely crowded. The reason why? They only had 4 Founders taps. Um, that’s not exactly a “take-over”! It all worked out though. We ran into our friend’s parents, who we’ve known forever and then a couple other friends, one of which we made a plan to watch the Superbowl with.

Saturday morning, I got up and had coffee then got my two mile run in. I started some towels and sheets, then Dakota and I went to Target. We needed multiple items and hadn’t been in a little bit. While we were gone, the menfolk watched Joker. When all finished with those, the family went to the store because we have a tradition of allowing the kids to pick out junk food on: Superbowl Sunday and the day of the NFL draft. Dakota had a 2 pm game so in there I did some other house stuff.

The game was too late, in my opinion, but whatever it was – later in the afternoon or warmer – her team finally came to play and they won 4-3! Also, Dakota scored the last goal so without her, they’d have just tied. Pretty awesome. That was a great motivator for her too. She’s good but she’s not very aggressive or competitive. After the game, we came home and had hot dogs and beans and wasted a bit of time, since Ash and I had fallen into a couple tickets to the FSU basketball game later in the evening. We parked in my garage and walked (it’s not far at all) and went to our seats. We ended up leaving a bit early but we had fun. Can’t beat free tickets.

I did not sleep well that night though; definitely should not have eaten those cheese fries! In fact, I ate twice all three days this past weekend and I am not really happy with myself about it. But back to my normal fasting today.

Sunday morning I was going to run but my knee’s been hurting so I took a day off. I got laundry going, cleaning too. Ash and I went to Costco and picked up my oldest from a friend’s. We went to Total Wine then I made lunch for everyone. I ended up going back out and got myself a sushi roll and in the afternoon, Ash and I started watching a movie called Hawk the Slayer, which was pretty bad. But then his friend Brian asked us to come over for a quick beer and to look at his recently purchased brewing system. Dakota was in and out with a friend of hers during this time and it also started pouring rain, then turned into just a slow annoying mist. But that’s Florida in winter for you.

Around 5 I made guacamole and started on tacos. I experimented with making tiny tacos in the air fryer. I finally got a system down but they kept opening up. I think next time I’d just air fry them open face and add onion and cilantro. It was all a success though. Our friend Mike came over (his girlfriend was supposed to but something came up) and it was like the old days. He always used to watch football with us; I’m talking when the boys were itty bitty. The game was a disappointment but not surprising. I’m just glad it was as close as it was.

This morning, I told my oldest I’d take him to school (only 2 more weeks on his no-car punishment [even though we let him go to work, the gym, and use it to pick up our other kids]) but he kind of botched it. I wanted to be in the car at 7; he was walking downstairs at 7:03. So, another lesson to be learned. But it all worked out. I don’t have to be in at 7:30; I just like to be. So now here I am, trying to recover from all the bad eating and getting my wits about me to work. Two special orders this week, which means some weird or long hours. I am trying not to think too far ahead on it but it’s just… a lot.

Ok love OR break up songs? I’d rather a love song so here’s some that come to mind.

  1. Three songs I haven’t heard in many a year. Buy Me a Rose is a song that can break a heart. Alana ramblinwitham

  2. Whew, what a jammed pack weekend! Your first two song picks are favorites, great oldies but I sure don’t remember the Kenny Rogers song. Thanks for sharing and have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  3. good for Dakota! I’m like her but even more so as I don’t care for sports unless it’s figure skating or the Olympics but football? Hahaaa. Actually, half of Canada was watching the game which is a huge amount. I can’t eat any of those foods because I’d be suffering due to my IBS. I enjoyed your music selection here. Lots of fun
