I probably should try to complain less but I have to say: this cold is irritating. My hands are dry and chapped, my feet are always numb, and I just feel like it lends to an overall blah feeling. But I do think this week is going to be slightly warmer so, there you go.
Anyway, not a bad weekend at all. Got to leave here before 6 and made it to Lake Tribe. We were having our EC meeting there but also, talking to the brewers about doing a collaboration with them and our club. We settled on mid-February and we’ll aim to make a hazelnut brown. Should be a pretty cool experience! We’re going to make 4-5 barrels and they’ll obviously have it on tap in their location. Pretty neat.
The next day, I really needed to run but it was way too cold. Ended up just going to the grocery store then cleaning bathrooms before Dakota’s soccer game. Came home and made burgers then went over to the neighbors’ house. I may have mentioned that we met the people who live behind us and a little bit up the easement. Dakota met their daughter at a friend’s party and it turns out we’re neighbors. It also turns out we know a lot of the same people so that’s nice. Our original plan had been to sit outside with them at their firepit and have some beer until 7 when we were supposed to meet a friend but he ended up getting waylaid by family and so, we just stayed until about 11. It was a fun time though.
Sunday morning, I did end up running. It wasn’t going to get much warmer so I donned my cold gear and hit the road for a nearly 3 miler. Ash and I got out and did our hardware store errand. We needed more wood for storage, some bins, some pavers, and to refill a couple propane tanks. All that went fine and I was going to make food at 2 but Dakota will still at some fake snow sledding thing, Elliot wasn’t home, and the aforementioned friend was coming through town finally. So I made some guac and then around 4:30, tacos. He stayed until about 6 then I literally sat in my chair the rest of the evening. I was just so worn out from the run and lifting heavy stuff earlier.
It was pretty tough waking up this morning, probably due to taking an allergy pill right before bed. And to be honest, I still feel like I’m dragging, even though I’ve had my coffee. Guess it’s just going to be one of those days!

Since it’s a freebie week, here’s one of the new songs that SiriusXM has dredged up on the Yacht Rock Deep Cuts.
We were half seriously talking how it was time to move to Florida last week with the horrible cold and snowy conditions. Our nightly lows hit the single digits more than once and we haven’t been above freezing for a week. We are expected to finally rise to the low 40s, so I’m excited about that. It’s going to be rainy most of the week but much, much warmer like low 60s by Thursday and Friday. I won’t complain. 🙂
“Blame It On the Night” is an oldie I haven’t heard in years. Thanks for sharing it on 4M. Have a boogietastic week, darlin’!
Hazelnut brown sounds like a beer that Mark would enjoy!
I’m SO ready for spring.
“fake snow sledding thing”?
Someone she knows creates a lot of fake snow on the coldest day (for here) and they have a bunch of kids over to play.
I think I’ve heard this song before. You have been busy. I went for a nice walk with my hubby and our dog. It was -8 or something like that and snowing…it was beautiful.
I’m so glad we decided not to go to Florida this January. Hazelnut brown sounds like a beer I would enjoy. I didn’t recognize the song but it might go good with a beer, too. Alana ramblinwitham.
I went to follow Finis on Spotify and discovered I already was, so I’ve heard him before, though I can’t remember when. Has kind of an early ’80’s smooth jazz vibe… I like it!
