MMMM + Last weekend before busy-ness

I cannot complain about our weekend. We actually enjoyed it, for the most part. I did leave half day Friday and suffer through a sinus headache but we all went to see a movie as a family which was nice. Elliot ended up not having to work so in the evening, we had a fire outside and that was really nice. Ash and I enjoyed it anyway.

Saturday we eased into the day. I ran and went to the store, made spaghetti for the kids. Ash wanted to eat later. Dakota had a game at 2 and then came home to prep for a birthday party she was attending. I took her there and Ell to work and Ash and I watched Malone, which I thought would be better but eh. But, it wasn’t the worst Burt Reynolds film I’ve ever watched.

Sunday, Ash got up to do a 32 mile ride and I ran then made tacos. I got a text from someone whose daughter went to the party Saturday and it turns out, they live almost directly behind us. So we planned to walk out to the easement to officially meet, and then Dakota played with the little girl all afternoon. Always nice to get to know the neighbors! Since she was gone and the boys were busy with friends as well, we just watched movies: Class of 84 and Hot Pursuit, respectively. Both 80s movies. I made dinner for the kids, talked to my mom, then we watched the Golden Globes on mute. LOL. I want to see who wins but have no interest in hearing these fools speak.

Today is the beginning of a long nine weeks. Committee meetings today then Session officially begins tomorrow. Nine weeks of having to dress nicely each day; nine weeks of holding your breath for requests that must be completed RIGHT NOW. Nine weeks of later leave times. But for the most part, it goes quickly and when it’s done, I’m free AND I have lots of comp time.

::clap clap:: OK, freebie week! I have shared Sleep Token before but today, I will share some songs from their very beginning. These are so good; I’m totally in love with this band.

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Especially with your 9 weeks of go-go-go coming up. 😉 And very cool that the neighbors behind you have a daughter than can play with Dakota – bet a long-term friendship is formed there! 🙂 Thanks for the intro to Sleep Token!

  2. Your schedule is always such a full one. Here’s to the moment all of this stressful stuff is in your rear mirror. That’s good Dakota has friend nearby to buddy up with. My childhood best friend and I were nearly inseparable until Junior High, then we drifted into different circles after she moved. She was my Maid of Honor at my wedding and I still regard her as one of my best friends. Thanks for sharing your song picks and for joining the party, darlin’!

  3. A great weekend and perhaps a new friend for your Dakota. Hoping you’ll be so busy during your nine week grind that they will fly like lightning and they’ll be over before you know it. I hadn’t heard any of these songs previously. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. You are always a busy lady but it sounds like you had fun. The Globes….what did you think of those Globes when Da’vine won? I mean, seriously, that was way too much cleavage where you could see the start of her nipple. That was gross. There were too many ugly fashions like the silver pom pom chick and Rosamund Pike wearing a black apple on her head…it looked like an apple. There was one sweet thank you speech from the girl from the Martin Scorsese film where she spoke in the Blackfoot language. It sounded so pretty. She was sweet unlike Taylor Swift who was not happy with the jokes or losing.

      1. All of that stuff is why I hate award shows. The woman from Holdovers WAS good in the movie but had absolutely no business wearing that dress! All of the celebrity glad-handing is just beyond what I can handle.

  4. “I want to see who wins but have no interest in hearing these fools speak.” Oh, I hear ya.
I usually just catch the headlines after the fact.
Nice tunes, don’t think I’ve heard any Sleep Token before.
