Wednesday ‘Podge – Don’t sweat it

1. What’s something small you tend to sweat even though you know you shouldn’t?

LOL paying bills. It’s not been a “problem” since I was in my 20s but still, I do. Mostly because I have this weird feeling like if I stress about something, it magically fixes it. Which I know is illogical.

2. October 17th is National Pasta Day…do you like pasta? What’s your favorite? Cooked at home or eaten in your favorite Italian restaurant? How often do you make/eat pasta?

To be honest, not really. I don’t know why but I just never want it. Now, my mom used to make real carbonara, which she learned how to make when she visited Italy. I loved that and ordered it exactly twice in restaurants: once at Macaroni Grill and it sucked and once in a fancy NY place and it was fairly good. (pictured below) But I haven’t had it in a while. I’ll make a lasagna every couple weeks and I do enjoy that. I’ll make spaghetti and suffer through it.

3. Do you consider yourself a spontaneous person? Explain.

Sometimes. If plans come up, I usually want to jump on them. But for the most part, I am carefully planned out.

4. Who are some of your heroes? Tell us why.

My parents, my husband, and anyone brave enough to do the things they want (within reason, of course. Not people who think surgically changing their gender will solve their mental issues. That’s not brave at all.)

5. Let’s wrap it up with something light…Taylor Swift…are you a fan? On a scale of 1-10 how much so? (1=who’s Taylor?, 10=a true Swiftie, seen her in concert more than once). If you’re a fan what’s your favorite T. Swift song?

I. CAN’T. STAND. HER. I know who she is, sure. And I like the one duet she did with Tim McGraw years ago, Highway Don’t Care, but OMG she is insufferable! Also, this thing with Travis Kelce is a total set-up. The infamous they are setting her up to be a political figure and I hate it. Plus, I hate how all her fans are suddenly like, “Oh, what’s a tight end? Oh, Travis, he’s kind of cute.” I had him on my fantasy team for years! He’s mine, yo!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

For those following along at home, the aggressive treatment of my pulled quad is… coming along. I have been wrapping it in a compression thing with anti-inflammatory oils and trying to elevate when I can. I can walk a lot better today but it still hurts pretty good. I think tomorrow I’ll segue out of cold and start on heat and massage. We head out for Helen, GA on Friday so I need to get crackin’ on healing!

In other news, it’s been consistently cool here and I need to do so much but there’s just not enough time. I mean, I didn’t leave the office until 6 Monday! I used that overage yesterday to leave by 3 and hit the store and catch up a little but it wasn’t the major stuff like closing down the pool, which needs to be vacuumed once more beforehand.

This is the earliest I can remember it being this cool, though an old blog post from 2012 I found the other day mentioned 41 in late October so… maybe things switch up every ten years or so. I did hear that this winter is supposed to be really cold. Yay? I like cool but I can’t stand cold. Anyway, onwards to editing. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

  1. Can’t believe I’m going to comment about Taylor Swift but it’s the Hodgepodge so why not lol. I am not so much a fan of her personally, but her way with words is really something. Sometimes I forget she’s the same age as my one of my daughters. She seems very young to me. Hope your leg heals…have a great time in Helen! I think the weather is supposed to be really nice.

  2. Thank you so much for being in the “Taylor Swift is grossly overrated” camp with me! LOL Glad your quad is healing up and I hope that you’re able to do everything you want to do in GA without being in pain from it!

  3. Wanna come sit at my table? I’m so glad to see someone else who just tolerates pasta and isn’t a crazy Swiftie. I miss Macaroni Grill — not so much the food but coloring the tablecloth, all the while drinking copious amounts of red wine.

  4. I have to believe that MANY people are sick of the Taylor Swift hubbub. I mean, other celebrities have relationships, what is up with all the focus on Taylor Swift?!
Glad your quad feels better. It takes time, such a large muscle. I’ve also heard that this winter is expected to be a cold one. Not looking forward to the deep freeze – reminds me to have the furnace given the once over.

  5. I don’t have an opinion on Taylor one way or another. I’m not a fan of her music, but then…I’m not into pop at all anyhow. It is kind of annoying how idolized she is, though. Dude, she sings songs…she doesn’t deserve all the worship she gets for that.
