- Really, many some things, which I’ll detail in a minute. But as I was walking into work, one of the maintenance guys was behind me and made brief chit chat about how hot it’s been and whatnot but we parted with him saying, “A better day is coming.” And you can interpret that as you will. I thought it was very positive. I don’t think he just meant temp-wise.
- What with vacation, my car finally getting the radiator fan fixed, and the extra money we had to pay (not rolled into the loan) for the roof, this next credit card payment’s got me wiped clean out. I can pay it, of course, but that’s such a stressor. But that’s also life, you know? It comes and goes in phases. You tighten up and save for future things like that because you know they’ll come ’round again.
- I have been battling some kind of illness and I can’t figure out what it is. I feel sore and some tightness in my chest but generally, don’t feel sick. I don’t feel like I need to climb into bed. Isn’t that weird? In fact, I feel more clear-headed today than I did the previous two days. I guess it could be a touch of whatever Ash had on vacation but I plan to hang around the house this weekend, that’s for sure. I guess it’s just my time to be down and out a little. I’m planning to leave at 12:30 today, meet Ash for lunch, then we have to replace the parts in our toilet because it’s making this high-pitched intermittent squeaking sound. Ugh.
- I graded the papers I had to do and now I am just wasting time until I leave. I took a walk, got my morning sun. I really do believe that there’s ways to heal that don’t involve medication. The sun, nature, and healthy eating all really help.
- I watched this video this morning (youtube – After Skool) about breaking free from the Matrix. The Matrix IS society; it’s social media, the corporate world, news, etc. We already try to stay away from as much of that as we can. He also talked about how nature’s sounds can soothe you and help open your third eye but the cacophony of city sounds does not. It was a lot to think about but really validated the new rule we just implemented with this kids: no devices during the week. This incudes phones. Now, will they use them at school/on the bus? Probably. But I think any amount of time we can keep them engaged in reality is a positive thing. I want them to see that there is no usefulness in some of that online trash that can consume you if you’re not careful.
I hate big credit card bills. We’ve been replacing things that were lost due to fire and water damage and we’ve charged so much that they increased our credit limit again and it is a ridiculous amount. We will hopefully have more insurance money coming our way to pay some of it. I hope you rest well this weekend and feel 100% soon!
You have allergies, I think I’ve seen. That will do it. It’s a bad time of year for me and I would often feel a sort of raw feeling in my chest along with varying allergy symptoms. Used to be I ran and sneezed for a couple days so much I’d go through tons of paper towel. As I aged, I tended more toward headaches. Not sure which is prefereable. Relax. I know my nerves would increase allergic responses. Rest.
There’s a concept in economics called the velocity of money, supposedly a measue of how quickly money turns over in the economy. My own definition is how quickly money leaves my pocket, which lately has been pretty much warp speed around here. I can empathize…
I hope your weekend “downtime” cures whatever’s ailing you. I remember reading something about how getting out and being “in the trees” is good for our health. Makes sense to me.
