I am so bad because I never link to the blog that posts these Qs but chances are, if you came here from there, that would be redundant anyway.
1. Working on anything exciting lately?
Not particularly. I guess I do have a battle jacket in my office that I glued some new patches to and I have sewn two of them. I leave it in my office for when I can’t look at a screen anymore!
2. What was the highlight of the day today?
Since it has only just begun, I’ll go with the birthday card I just got. Our office makes everyone sign one in this very strategic manner – this envelope gets passed around with everyone’s name and once you sign, you mark yourself and take it to the next person. It feels stilted but hey, it’s still nice to get it.
3. What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Relax? Clean? Both? LOL. I like a balance of things: kid activities, catching up on house stuff, drinking beer with friends.
4. What are your favorite restaurants?
I enjoy Bumpa’s a local place where I get delicious tacos and burgers, Maria Maria, an authentic Mexican place, and Chuy’s, which we don’t have here anymore but we go to anytime we are in a town where they do have one.
5. Do you follow any sports?
Yes, Premier League soccer and NFL.
6. What is your biggest fear?
It’s a tie between dying and letting down my family.
7. What is your biggest regret?
I really try to take the mindset of not regretting things but if I had to choose, it would be allowing myself to be self-conscious and not confident for too many years. I am better now.
8. When you were growing up, what was your dream job?
Hmm you know, it was mostly to be a writer and teacher was close second and now I still write and teach, though I’d rather do something else now. I think I’d like to go into real estate.
9. Do you say ‘sherbet’ or ‘sherbert’?
BERT. Even though I know it’s not really correct.
10. Have you ever had a paranormal experience?
I guess one time I did. The house we lived in in Orlando had kind of a weird backstory; the guy who lived there before was kind of a whack job. It’s a super safe semi-rich neighborhood but he was paranoid and put bars on the windows and lived alone. Anyway, I was going into my parents’ office closet to get something and I heard my name. I thought it was my mom but she was actually outside in the garage. She swore up and down she never called me. A similar thing happened to my sister. So to make light of it, we joked there was a monster in the closet and we named him Atluck!
11. What is your favorite food at a cocktail party?
The first thing that came to mind were bacon wrapped dates or figs, though any charcuterie is my fave.
12. Who is a book character most like you?
Wow that’s a tough question. I don’t know if I have ever read a book with a “me” character. I have certainly identified with some but no one is quite like me!
13. Do you read reviews before you go to movies??
No, not usually. Restaurants, yes.
14. How do you feel about cilantro?
Love it! I’m not one of those “it tastes like soap” people.
15. Have you ever cried in public?
I know I have, though can’t think of any particular time right now.
I love bacon wrapped figs or dates! yum!! Your “paranormal” experience is wild!!!
Right? Who knows what really happened there; i don’t believe in the paranormal, really, but it was the strangest thing.
I used to be one of those “it tastes like soap” people. Don’t know when my tastes changed, but I love cilantro now.
P.S. – Happy Birthday!
Thanks!
After I wrote my paranormal answer, I thought of the most weird one. https://www.rogerogreen.com/2015/02/02/mom-40-years-ago-taking-care-from-far-away/
