Wednesday ‘Podge – My in-between escape from work

1. What do you never get tired of?

Man, you know how people say “I could never get tired of X!” ? Well, I am sure I get tired of everything from time to time: certain foods, my kids and husband, music, etc. I guess my answer here is sunrises/sunsets. I always enjoy those, no matter what.

2. My mother made the best ________________________________.

I always thought her sandwiches tasted better. Even when I came home during breaks in college, I loved having her assemble one for me. And even now, something about her placing a plate down with a huge sandwich, chips, and a beer is somehow better.

3. What machine or appliance in your home aggravates you the most? Why?

I’m going with the pool pump. The guy who came to work on it last summer showed me how to program it and I have somehow gotten the hang of it but other aspects like cleaning just annoy the crap out of me.

4. What are three things that brighten up your day when they happen?

Eating (when you only eat once a day, and sometimes not at all, this matters), when my kids are good to one another, and when I get a lot accomplished.

5. Thursday (May 12) is National Limerick Day…write a limerick about relating to spring weather, spring blooms, or a spring event (five lines, the first two lines rhyme with the fifth line, the third and fourth lines rhyme together)

I’m going to have to bail on this one; I am NEVER good at this. But I live right off Limerick road; does this count? In fact, with the exception of my road, all the roads right around here have Irish names: Blarney, Killarney, Shamrock, etc…

6. Insert your own random thought here.

On my first fasting day this week (Tuesday) I was hungrier than usual (I ate a lot of carbs and sugar lately, thereby taking a step back) but I kept myself busy with errands to Costco and Publix, then I took a long walk. I also cleaned and did some laundry. In the afternoon, two of my kids got in the pool and then I took my son to soccer. We watched a movie in the evening and while my husband was filming a video for youtube, I watched some videos and dozed off to sleep. It was a nice day!

Today, I have A LOT of grading but I started off by waking early: around 5:15 I woke to go to the bathroom and when I couldn’t get back to sleep, I just got up. I’m guessing around 2 I’ll be a bit sleepy. Waiting to find out when I will start with the new tutoring job and later on, I’ll be doing a couple trainings for the online teaching one. I’m kind of in between classes at 2 places so it’s a funky time for me. Plus, two of my on-going tutoring sessions online have ended. I’m a lot freer now but also, out of my routine.

  1. When our kids were at home, and were good to each other, that always made my day! Good choice! We get up at 5:00 every day — you might end up being energized :-).

  2. My hubs is retired so I mostly make lunch. But if I come upstairs or home from an errand and find he’s made a sandwich for me it definitely tastes better than one I’d make for myself! Hope your routine resumes soon.

  3. What a delightfully candid answer to #1! I’m happy to have had the pool in Arizona, but what a money pit! ‘Happier now not to have one.

  4. It’s so good when siblings get along and help each other. I’d like one of your mom’s sandwiches plopped down in front of me right now! 😉

  5. Yes, the sunrise and sunsets are always amazing and a beautiful blessing. I love that about the sandwich. Pools are not easy to maintain. Sounds like that was a nice day for you in your random. Good for you getting out and walking.

  6. I never tire of sunrises and sunsets either. My faves. Laughed at the others because, yes, I think I get tired of my favorite things from time to time.
