1. Where do you get your news these days?
Well, I have a Google Pixel so if I swipe over, it’ll bring up articles. Half of them are trash – things like what some celebrity I don’t know did – but some are world happenings. To be honest with you, I have pulled back a lot recently. I used to watch the same couple of youtubers religiously because they’d break down current events. But right now, I need to focus on work and family.
2. It’s National Crab Day…do you like crab meat? What makes you crabby?
I do enjoy crab but I hardly ever order crab legs; too much work. Many many things make me crabby but one major thing is when plans come at me too quickly or plans we made get interrupted/changed. I have still not learned how to roll with the punches.
3. Does freedom mean more choices? Have you ever felt there were too many choices? Elaborate.
Yes, in a lot of ways it does. For example, when I was watching the Darkhorse podcast, they were talking about how our military has been weakened because they keep wanting diversity and all these whack jobs in there but what it comes down to is that we gain freedom by having a strong military so that these people CAN be free to work through the 26 genders they think exist. So yes, it means that you have the choices because we made you free. In terms of TOO many choices, I think we have too much media; too many things to watch and it’s making people lazier than ever. THAT is a negative thing. But there’s always a balance and if we want the freedom to choose to own guns or where we send our kids to school, etc, that comes with allowing people to Netflix their way through life.
4. Barbara Millicent Roberts was introduced to the world on March 9, 1959…that’s Barbie to most of us. Did you have Barbies as a kid, or did you let your own children play with Barbies? What well known Barbara (living or not) would you most like to meet?
Funny story: when I was four, I had a birthday party with my cousins and a couple kids from pre-school. One little girl gave me a Barbie and I was SO not a doll person that I actually threw it. I was, in retrospect, very sorry I did that. My daughter loves them though so that kind of makes up for it I guess. I cannot think of a Barbara I want to meet. Sorry!
5. What are three things you value most in another person?
Loyalty, punctuality, honesty. I may not want their honesty but I’ll take it; it’s good for me to hear the truth even if I don’t want to!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
It looks like we’re going to have rain for the next three days or so and I am not happy about it in the slightest. Guess I am glad that I got an obscene amount of sun this weekend. As mentioned in my Monday post, I actually burned while out there at soccer. Was in such a hurry after our race – so Ell wouldn’t be late to his first game – that I failed to pack a hat or sunscreen. I am going to make up a bag just for that stuff and have it ready when we go back to having games. It’s weird: the season began and the kids had two practices then a game, and now we don’t have another until April 2nd. I guess it was good to get a feel for which positions kids can and cannot play. Now they get a bunch more training days (not counting Spring Break) and we’ll be back to every weekend games for a while. We are gonna be busy!
I am also trying really hard not to panic these days: rising prices, lack of income, impending war. How can one not be wary? I know it sound ridiculous but there are moments when I feel like something as innocuous as a skin care routine or working out feels useless if things in our world are about to get really bad. I know that’s extreme but maybe it’s my way of rationalizing working ahead so I can retain our quality of life.
It is rainy here today, too, and it is going to warm up by Friday ONLY to turn around and plummet back down to the 20’s. The high on Saturday will not get out of the 30’s . . .and by the end of next week, we will be back up to mid to high 70’s. By the way, this is showing up as preservetwinmom (which I am :-)) but I’m also Lisa – a regular visitor to your blog.
Oh ok, I was wondering! And yes, we are supposed to have some low 30s by the weekend, which kind of sucks but we knew we’d have one more cold weather stint before Spring really set in!
Rainy here too. I think less news leads to less anxiety and yes I completely agree we have far too much media. 24/7 everything, so when something really important happens we hardly notice. We’re supposed to fly to Calif in the fall, but I feel like we should book tickets now before fuel prices become more ridiculous. And I’m stocking my pantry as I think we are definitely in for more shortages. My faith keeps me steady when the world feels off kilter. And less news helps a lot too!! Have a great day!
We want to make a trip to Ohio in the summer but how much is that going to cost, you know? So annoying.
Wow! A sunburn while watching soccer in the winter. 🙂 The sun is shining here today. That’s funny about the first Barbie you got. Faith is very important for sure. Happy Hodgepodge to you!
My grandson has signed up for soccer, and he will begin playing March 21st. I just hope the weather cooperates. Last week temps in the 70s and now calling for snow and temps as low as the teens.
That’s crazy! But soccer is always a winter sport where I am, at least for the city stuff. The league my kids play in now, all year ’round!
Oh yes, punctuality is a big one. I swear soccer games were the only places I got tanned…lol. I never really sit out in the sun, but spending weekends at games, gave me the tan I needed.
It’s nearly unavoidable; some families bring entire tents and just block everyone’s view though.
