Wednesday ‘Podge – I missed you all last week

From this Side of the Pond

1. Do you think intuition is as valuable as rational thinking? Explain why or why not.

I think you might find value in that intuition as far as it tipping you off to ideas, innately, but the rational thinking comes into play when making decision based on said intuition. Sometimes I feel like people might confuse intuition with emotional response, and you should perhaps avoid rash decision based on feelings.

2. In the grand scheme of things____________________________.

Not a lot of this extraneous stuff matters. We do get caught up in all the excesses and frivolities of the world but we don’t need to.

3. Last place you went that felt like ‘Grand Central Station’? Have you ever actually been to Grand Central Station (and by Grand Central Station I mean Grand Central Terminal)?

Trying to think of busy places I have been but they aren’t coming to mind. Maybe Disney in 2019. And yes, I have been to Grand Central Station; pretty hectic!

4. October 6 is National Noodle Day. What’s your favorite dish made with noodles and have you made/eaten this dish lately?

Let me tell you a little secret: I’m not much into pasta. I will make a lasagna now and then and I love it very much but for the most part, I don’t eat it. It’s too…carby. And even when I did eat more carbs, it always made me feel so heavy, I regretted it.

5. A time recently you had to really ‘use your noodle’? Elaborate.

This morning, I was just thinking about how I am always calculating my time. Isaac’s bus was late today so I had to drive him to school and this made me have to reorganize my morning. So really, I use my noodle every day to get all my activities in and make the house still run smoothly.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I have to confess that I have gotten behind in one of my online courses and today, I’m righting that ship. It’s one of those things where, once so far behind, you run from it even more. I check email and if no students said anything, I fail to go into our courses and give them more resources. It’s like cutting the fat; where can I save time for other things? Well, if I skip what that class gets, then… See what I mean? But that stops today. I can’t be that employee/teacher!

Right now, I am doing cybersecurity training, which all my jobs seems to require and is super annoying. It’s the same info across all platforms and just time consuming. It was supposed to be done yesterday but I straight did not have time, what with my middle kid a little under the weather, my daughter having dance, and my husband having an existential crisis. LOL. I kid. He was just debating quitting a side project with a friend. He’s spending an inordinate amount of time on it – this is not for money, mind you – and his friend is doing less work so it’s just stressing him out.

I am trying new methods of releasing stress, however, and our new infrared sauna is indeed helping. I try to get in it 5 or so times a week for at least 20 minutes and just try to zone out in there. I can tell it is helping me to feel relaxed enough to sleep at night, so that’s a bonus. At this point, we’re just trying everything to be generally healthier.

Speaking of, my oldest appears to be sick. He started feeling bad last night and while it’s not a bad illness, he’s generally snotty and tired so I let him stay home today. We’ll see how he is feeling once he wakes up but out of the five of us, he’s the one who hasn’t really had any sickness in a good long while. Must just be his turn. I’ll pump him full of vitamin D and zinc and water and he’ll be good to go!

  1. Your routine does sound like it requires use of your noodle to keep on track. Sorry to hear your little one is under the weather, but trust it doesn’t last long and he too will be back on track in short order. A daily 20 min sauna? Now that sounds like something that definitely needs to stay on the daily schedule. Hoping the rest of your weeks runs smoothly.

  2. Hope you’re back on track before long. I think any time we fall behind it’s easy to just fall more behind : ) Good for you for tackling things today. Hope your son is feeling better soon. Have a great Wednesday!
