V is for Volbeat
If you have read my blog before, then you know I love this Danish band! I don’t know when I discovered them – maybe 2 or 3 years ago? – but I delved in deep. Although I will say, at first, I did not like Michael Poulsen’s voice. But as I got accustomed to his part Elvis, part rockabilly style, I was in love.
Though I got to know them during the Seal the Deal and Let’s Boogie album, I went back to Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven albums, which I find to be their best. Though the newest album was approachable as well. Here’s the first song I really got into:
They have a ton of other songs I really came to love such as:
I loved that one because you feel it when he says, “Oh maybe it all just burns like a living hell”. Michael often sings of lyrics of despair and sadness. Funny because I am not necessarily a sad person but when my music sings of those themes, I love it.
I saw Volbeat live in 2019 as part of Slipknot’s Knotfest and man, they were excellent live. I was pretty impressed. But then again, I love going to concerts. I would see Volbeat if they came anywhere near me, no matter what.
