MMMM + OK weekend; tired and unintentionally mad

For some odd reason, I was just MAD yesterday. Frustrated, irritated, and generally curmudgeonly. I had no reason to be so I just blame random hormones. I know my husband did not deserve the third degree I gave him when he got home from the new neighbor’s house. The guy invited him over to watch football and it was a good opportunity to get to know them, since their daughter has befriended ours. But when they got home, I was just so annoyed, I didn’t care at all and I was in no mood to talk about meeting these people at all. Oh well; today seems better.

In general the weekend was successful. I do not remember Friday; I possibly had some beer. And I think we watched Turn. Saturday, the kids all had soccer so we spent a few very cold hours out at the fields then went to Sonny’s. I promptly fell asleep during the Bills game and then forced myself to get up, go to Target, and take a run. I was supposed to run Sunday but did my 4 miler in low 40s temps on Saturday and boy was I glad I did. I felt so dang relieved to be done with it and it was a good run! I hurt the next day but that’s the price of running a bit faster.

I think some of my anger grew from knowing I have a lot of work to do this week but that’s not a bad thing. I need something to push me. Although I had a moment yesterday when I was thinking about cleaning our shower, that I don’t know how I wasted away so much time over the holiday break. What did I do? I guess we kept busy enough but lord, I could have gotten a lot of cleaning done.

As stated in a previous post, I literally hate January. I thought maybe, since I now do not have that normal financial stress this month typically brings, I’d be ok but nope. The cold and dreariness is kicking my ass. So, as cheesy at it is, I like to focus on stuff that makes me happy. So here’s some, and then a couple songs that do.

  • This Mandalorian fanfic titled Rough Day. This writer is so good! Sure it’s really just soap-opera-y trash but this is a wonderful story. It’s long too – she’s on chapter 16 with no end in sight – so I have endless reading to fill my time.
  • Charcuterie boards. Ok, that’s dumb, I know, but I have been a big fan of eating that kind of meal for a long time but recently got on a kick of looking for the perfect wooden board and now I am bent on buying one. Now that my money is not up in the air, I can justify it.
  • Peanut butter whisky. We tried one a few months ago and it’s one of the few liquors I have enjoyed drinking straight. I got myself another brand of one and keep meaning to drink it. I like looking at the bottle on the counter and thinking about when I will open it.

****************

OK, two songs for you today that bring me joy.

I never really watched this show – not even in reruns – but this theme is great. I feel like gone are the days of good tv show theme songs.

And here’s a jaunty tune that will surely get stuck in your head.

  1. Yeah, but you were on vacation. Who cleans on vacation?

I loved Loggins and Messina. In fact, I started smoking L&M’s because of them. “Vahevala” was my favorite.

I didn’t watch WKRP until it went into syndication. I’m glad, because it’s funnier now.

  2. I don’t like cleaning and I put it off until it becomes overwhelming. I would never clean on a holiday break, just sayin’. It’s been so many years since I’ve heard “Vahevala”. I watched some WKRP’s when it was first on; I should get back into it one of these days.

  3. I agree with John. Nobody should clean on vacation! Yep, I watched WKRP for a while. It was funny for a while then I moved on. Vahevala sorry I never heard it before. It’s cool. Thanks for sharing.
