Whoo boy, you know that social interaction limit of mine I reference often? yeah, it’s been met for the month! We had brew club on Thursday, then Friday I took Ell for a hair cut and to orientation (more meeting random people) and then that night we had our friend Wayne’s birthday. It was fun; we got there at 6 and I pried Ash away by 9:30, though he would have stayed much longer.
Saturday we got up and did a few things before going to the Brew Club annual Summer party at 12, which was also nice but we only stayed 2 hours before going to Costco and Publix. I feel like I didn’t hang around too much; we got little cleaning projects done and Ash worked on arcade stuff and I started my kombucha. It’s fairly simple compared to beer: you basically steep tea, stir in sugar, cool, add the SCOBY thing and then let sit for 7-9 days. I’m on day 3 so we’ll see how it goes! I honestly haven’t looked at it since I put it in a dark corner so we shall see.
Sunday was all hanging out: I ran and Ash ran a long 9 miler and in the afternoon we went to Goodwill where I finally found a good desk for my new working-mainly-from-home set up. It’s small enough to put in the corner of our bedroom we originally wanted to use so, yay! I am excited to start that new phase of my life but for now, 10 more working days!
Today was day one for my kids – got the littles dropped off myself and they were pretty happy to go. Isaac saw his buddies headed to walk and talk and bailed out on my pretty quickly. First graders go to the media center and Koda saw a friend and was happy. I’m hoping the bus came relatively on time for my oldest but not holding out hope; the high school bus was over an hour late! The county’s transportation department didn’t even get bus routes to people until last Thursday and even then, everything was jacked, so now they’re scrambling to figure everything out. Sigh. Just hope my youngers can get on theirs ok this afternoon.
Freebie week! I am going to share just a few songs I’ve been listening to lately.
All out life, by Slipknot. You may not like their sound but wait for the breakdown around 3:28. I am sharing the lyric vid because the regular one is, well, a little creepy.
And I don’t think I shared this one yet but I love Volbeat and they just keep putting out music I want to hear.
Claire,
I’m glad your weekend was productive and fun. Having a work weekend without downtime can be a real bummer but you squeezed in some play. Good for you! Slipknot generally isn’t my cup of tea but I’m digging the sound of your second choice featuring Volbeat. I know you’ve shared their tunes in the past but I’m gonna have to give them a closer listen to on YT. Thanks for sharing the 4M dance floor with me today and here’s to the new career phase fast approaching your life. Best of luck to ya! Have a boogietastic week, my dear! 😉
I kind of enjoyed Volbeat, especially at the end of the video as all the deceased loved ones crawled out of the hole. The other? Not so much, though the lyrics were good.
Mary drinks kombucha on occasion, and I had no idea what it was. So it’s basically fermented tea? Is it alcoholic? I got the impression it wasn’t…
Your weekend was more productive then mine.
The first tune… nope never heard of it and I don’t think I care to again. Just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess, but love the second tune and the story it tells… and the ending is superb!!! … great music/great guitars!!! Thanks for sharing and love the story of the second tune too! Have a great week my friend!
I love Volbeat and I think this is one of their best. I’ve heard the song, but never saw the video, and I loved the video almost as much as the song. As for Slipknot – I like some of their stuff, I don’t like (to put it mildly) many of their songs, as I am just not into what I call “screaming heavy metal” but music is all about finding what is right for you. As for kombucha, what I’ve had (commercial) I haven’t liked at all, but who knows, maybe I would like the homemade stuff.
