Ready to be yet again exhausted by my weekend? I certainly was. I had a hard time waking up this morning and I normally bound out of bed. Though to my credit, it is a little rainy and cold here.
On Friday afternoon, I realized that my husband was taking our daughter to a birthday party and I had not gotten a gift yet. So I left a wee bit early and swung by Hobby Lobby. My middle boy went with them and my oldest got invited to a friend’s house for dinner so I decided to run up to Home Depot for a couple things then went into Fresh Market for some sushi. It was lovely to eat dinner by myself while watching something of my choosing. My oldest was only gone about 2 hours though so my alone time was short-lived. Oh well. The only other productive thing I did that night was sand the Giant Jenga pieces. That project is almost done now.
Saturday, we got up around our normal time to get ready for the Springtime race. Ash and I both opted for the 5k only this year. We had to be to his building (where the race ends actually) by 7:30 to get our team pic taken then we all walked up the hill to the courthouse to begin downtown. Springtime is a pretty good race but a little too hilly for my taste. My goal was to finish under 34 minutes, since that was my time on the last hilly race and I did: 33:50. We stood around a bit after because the beer line didn’t open until 9. This race is famous for having actual good craft beer at the end. I crushed two Founders All Day IPAs and then we went home to shower and go back out.
Our homebrew club was doing a group brew event so we went, just to watch and learn. And drink beer of course. By about 2:30 I was ready for a nap. In fact, that is what we did then. Ash and I took pretty long naps before waking for dinner and going to Sony’s, one extra kid in tow. Sixth grade boys are the weirdest, I tell you.
Sunday, we got a lazy start with a big breakfast but soon after, I was doing pool and yard work. By noon, I was already exhausted. Raking and mowing will really take it out of you. But errands needed to be run so I didn’t get a break even then. I will say, I got some downtime in the afternoon. But then I went back to putting a clear coat on the Jenga pieces. We had tacos and guacamole for dinner and I was asleep by 9:30!
OK songs about Spring, rain, flowers, etc. Anything Springy!
So this one is a stretch but I always like how the sun looks in Spring so here’s a related song, sort of. Also, the new Hozier album is good!
here’s a great related song. Something you may not know about me is that I love the weather channel’s local segments. The music is so calming! Here’s a vaporwave song called ‘local on the 8s’.
And this one is appropriate because it describes today perfectly.
Claire,
Thanks for sharing Hozier’s newest song. Your second selection is new-to-me, too. But, I know ‘Rainy Days And Mondays’. I loved the Carpenters. Karen had such a beautiful, mellow tone to her voice. Her life was snuffed out too soon. Poor gal, so heartbreaking! Here’s to a boogietastic week for ya, my friend! 😉
Good selections here. I really like the vaporware number; I’ll have to listen to more of it. And Karen Carpenter had a hell of a voice…
Great music and sounds like a good weekend
I’ve never heard your first one nor the second one so thanks for the introduction, but your last one needs no introduction. I’m sure everyone has heard this one. I remember singing this one in the car going to work on Monday! hahahaha~ Have a great day my friend. I have to run… doctor’s appointment once again! SHEESH~ Have a great evening!
Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down too. Actually any day that rains does. Thanks for the tunes.
I try hard not to let rainy days and Mondays get me down. I didn’t know the first two, but I used to love the Local on the 8’s music until first, they reduced the selection to two songs, it seems, and now they only have one Local every half hour instead of three. Oh well!
Rainy days and Mondays can sure get me down, though I try hard not to let them do that! 😉 Thanks for the intro to Hozier’s new songs – it’s been a while since I’ve listened to them. And I used to watch the Weather Channel’s local on the 8’s – I’d forgotten they do great music during that! 🙂 Thanks for the dance – hope this weekend’s been a little less hectic for ya! 😉
