MMMM + Weekend O’ Work

Man, we did SO much work in the house this weekend, it really is a wonder it still looks like a total mess. Honestly, we look like hoarders, with the amount of crap we uncovered. It was just neatly hidden away in closets! However, we did one of the larger tasks, and that was cleaning out the closet in the new baby’s room and then assessing which bins of items could be stored in the garage and which ones must be inside (i.e. pictures). So that was a huge step in the right direction.

My parents got into town around 4 on Friday and brought my oldest son back to us. It was pretty nice having him gone but also awesome having him return. Though, he was pretty out of sorts on Saturday when they left. He didn’t throw a fit about them going but his behaviour was a bit out of whack. I call it the “sleepover syndrome.” Ash and I both had this thing where the day after we came home from a sleepover, we were sad and cranky. Totally Elliot that day. Regardless, the kids played well enough that we got all that work done. I think we watched Princess Bride in the evening and then once they were in bed, Ash and I continued to catch up on Game of Thrones. Yes, we’re late to the game on that one but hey, we don’t have HBO.

On Sunday we did more work but Elliot had a birthday party in the afternoon, so that was a nice break for me and him. The hard work caught up to me by the evening and I was in pain. Alas, I am nearly 34 weeks so it is to be expected.

Today is Elliot’s first day of camp so we’ll how that goes. I am sort of nervous about the fact that 4/5 days, they go somewhere on a bus. But so do the other 30 soon-to-be first graders, along with the rest of the camp kids. And, I know kids his age have been doing this for years; it’s just one of those little things I worry about but shouldn’t.

Meanwhile, I’m just kind of behind on things but all I feel like doing is finding a comfortable position and drinking coffee. Would prefer beer but will have to wait at least seven more weeks. And then? It’s on!

Since it’s a freebie week, and I talked a lot about my older son, here are some songs he currently loves, a few to my chagrin, as they are totally hokey!

  1. I know what you mean about closets getting packed. I always think I am great at getting rid of stuff and then BAM, I have a ton of stuff. 34 weeks, wow, you are close. It is natural to worry about your little ones, especially as they grow and move into next stages, worrying is a good thing, natural and all apart of slowly letting them grow and go.
Oh, my gosh, Mikey, loved that song, talk about memories. Barbie Girl, new to me,catchy and pointed too and Weird Al, I have always enjoyed him. Have a great Monday πŸ™‚

  2. Those songs would be hits at our house too–at least with Bruiser. Turbo would look at us like we were nuts. He’s not much for music.

  3. Too funny! You really put a smile on my face & it was a great pick me up!!! Love Weird Al. hahahaha Have a rockin’ week. Thanks for sharin & join us today!

  4. I totally hear you on the whole messy house syndrome as you’re trying to clean and organized – my house is a complete disaster at the moment, and the hubby was wondering if we should clean before we pack – but my thought process is I’ll clean AS I pack, because it’ll take half the time. πŸ˜‰ Princess Nagger gets that “sleepover syndrome” in a big way – that’s the rare occasion she’ll have a major ‘tude. πŸ˜‰

LOVE your song picks – so much fun!! πŸ™‚

If You Want Some It Goes Like This with a Little Bit Of Everything Blowin’ Smoke in Cups

  5. Cleaning, especially in large order, can be quite the task but it’s so much nicer once it’s finished. I wish you all the best during the rest of your pregnancy. Hope Elliot has fun at camp!

  6. Closets are a nightmare. I don’t want to even talk about it and a word of warning, NEVER open any of mine. lol

Great fun freebie picks! Thanks for dancing with the 4M crew!!!
