Man, we did SO much work in the house this weekend, it really is a wonder it still looks like a total mess. Honestly, we look like hoarders, with the amount of crap we uncovered. It was just neatly hidden away in closets! However, we did one of the larger tasks, and that was cleaning out the closet in the new baby’s room and then assessing which bins of items could be stored in the garage and which ones must be inside (i.e. pictures). So that was a huge step in the right direction.
My parents got into town around 4 on Friday and brought my oldest son back to us. It was pretty nice having him gone but also awesome having him return. Though, he was pretty out of sorts on Saturday when they left. He didn’t throw a fit about them going but his behaviour was a bit out of whack. I call it the “sleepover syndrome.” Ash and I both had this thing where the day after we came home from a sleepover, we were sad and cranky. Totally Elliot that day. Regardless, the kids played well enough that we got all that work done. I think we watched Princess Bride in the evening and then once they were in bed, Ash and I continued to catch up on Game of Thrones. Yes, we’re late to the game on that one but hey, we don’t have HBO.
On Sunday we did more work but Elliot had a birthday party in the afternoon, so that was a nice break for me and him. The hard work caught up to me by the evening and I was in pain. Alas, I am nearly 34 weeks so it is to be expected.
Today is Elliot’s first day of camp so we’ll how that goes. I am sort of nervous about the fact that 4/5 days, they go somewhere on a bus. But so do the other 30 soon-to-be first graders, along with the rest of the camp kids. And, I know kids his age have been doing this for years; it’s just one of those little things I worry about but shouldn’t.
Meanwhile, I’m just kind of behind on things but all I feel like doing is finding a comfortable position and drinking coffee. Would prefer beer but will have to wait at least seven more weeks. And then? It’s on!
Since it’s a freebie week, and I talked a lot about my older son, here are some songs he currently loves, a few to my chagrin, as they are totally hokey!
