MMMM + Weekend shtuff

OK so my weekend was pretty good. I can’t complain. Friday, Ash and I took our half day and indulged in some Mexican food. I had steak fajitas; yum! Then we decided to see Silver Linings Playbook, even though it was not my first choice. I wasn’t really all that interested in it (I really don’t care for Bradley Cooper, you know) but you know what? It was quite good. And he was actually better than normal. I love being surprised by a movie and it did just that. It also reminded me that we’re all a little crazy and if you say you’re not, you’re probably lying!

We let the kids watch Madagascar 3 (I just don’t GET those movies; ugh) and that was Friday. Saturday was busy early on; I had to run some early errands and then soccer pictures were at 9, the game at 10. Had lunch and Ash went to play in a Magic tournament. The kids, thankfully, napped so I got a whole ton of cleaning done. I opened all the windows and doors and aired us out after vacuuming. Thank God for mild winter temps here, eh? It was, like, 70. I laid out in the sun for a bit after and then took a nap myself; peaceful! WHEN the boys woke, we headed to Target. I have to say, they were very well-behaved. Though I did tell them they could have popsicles and temporary tattoos when we got home. Sadly (depending on how you look at it) Ash was doing well in the tournament so he was not home until 10. But I cooked the kids some tasty food and we watched another of the Madagascar movies.

Sunday included a few errands and household projects; the drain lever in our second bathroom broke off in my hand the other night so the kids couldn’t bathe in there. The hardware looked original (so, circa 1969) and that right there explains it. Luckily, Ash was able to fix it. We had a big lunch, took naps, and I think the kids watched another Madagascar movie (all 3 in one weekend!) In the afternoon. I went through a range of emotions; stupid pregnancy hormones. I felt so depressed about going to work today, which is funny because I don’t normally feel like that about my job. I appreciate the quiet here and the chance to accomplish non-mom stuff. Luckily, I was able to pull myself out of the slump. I can’t say it was partly a fix but I relish a good cheeseburger and that’s what we had for dinner. And now, here I am at work, listening to some music and breaking into the day. I haven’t been to work the past two Mondays (one for a holiday and one because we were out of town) so I am kind of glad; I catch up on Mondays.

This week’s theme is based on the elements: earth, wind, water, fire. Let’s see what I can do with this.

I am SURE I won’t be the only one doing this:

I think this one counts as wind, right?

And here’s my stretch: It’s called Rock of Ages but it’s off the album Pyromania:

  1. Okay, you’re gonna slap me on this, but I just NOW realized you’re prego! *slap myself on forehead* Okay, you can slap me, too. How on earth did this happen? No, I know how you got pregnant. I mean, I don’t know how I over looked such wonderful news. I made a quick pass through your archives. I see you’re now 12 weeks into your pregnancy. I’m still scratching my head on how I missed this. Geez, where has my both sides of my brain been? Oh, definitely don’t answer that one!

Those crazy pregnancy hormones throw you in all kinds of directions. Hopefully the naps and cheeseburger help to straight you out, if only for a brief time. Now that I’m totally embarrassed *blush* here, let me say congrats on the newest one onboard!

I am happy to see you still enjoy getting out on the dance floor with all of us at Monday’s Music Moves Me – loved your song picks!

  2. Okay you go girl. Disco days here on the first one. Oh yeah getting on the dance floor. Busy weekend huh? You’re pregnant? Is this true? Geez, I missed that one too! Well, girl you get to do & feel anyway you want! Thanks for groovin’ with us. See you next week for FREEBIE MONDAY! Love your choices my friend.

  3. I think a hurricane definitely counts as wind! Ha! Loved your choices for today. Earth, Wind, and Fire was perfect.

  4. Hurricane absolutely counts as wind – I used Tornado for wind. πŸ™‚ And my hubby thought I should’ve picked an Earth, Wind & Fire song to cover those three elements. πŸ™‚ Love all your choices! πŸ™‚ Have a great week, Claire – hopefully those pregnancy hormones will settle out soon… πŸ˜‰ CONGRATS, by the way – I don’t think I told you that yet. πŸ™‚

Blown Away: a Tornado creates an Eternal Flame Mother Earth won’t douse with Water
