I don’t wanna talk about the Superbowl, ok? I hate when losers somehow win. And that’s all I have to say.
The weekend was nice otherwise. We spent Saturday morning just hanging out… waiting. Ash’ ran the Krispy Kreme challenge at 1 o’clock (this is how you know it’s a college event; most races begin at 6 or 7 AM) and we drove out to watch and encourage. The deal was you had to run two miles, then eat 12 donuts, then run two miles back. You had to do this within 60 minutes. The thing that bugged me was that it wasn’t very official or well-officiated. I mean, one guy looked at your empty box and gave you an x on your hand. I could find 10 people alone who could have easily slipped 5 or 6 donuts into the trash and cheated. Ash managed to eat all 12 and still make it in about 40 minutes. Times haven’t posted yet so we don’t know for sure. It was fun but he semi-regrets the donuts, I think. But it was an experience. We went to the store in the evening and then… wow, I can’t even remember. That’s bad.
Sunday was my run day and I did a fast 5 miler. We had chicken tacos for lunch and went to various stores in the afternoon. We watched the game and ate junk food as promised. We pumped it up for Ell that on Superbowl Sunday, we eat foods we don’t normally eat. He loved it, of course. I think things like that are good for the kids. Teach them that you can pig out but only every now and then. I mean, it’s not like we EVER keep Cheetos or Doritos in the house. In fact, that was the first Nacho Cheese Dorito I have had in maybe a decade. And OMG, was it ever good!
I’m at work now and I somewhat regret eating all that junk. My body is none too happy with me. Luckily, I have water and I will run later.
So, it’s a freebie week. I’m trying to decide if I should pick my own theme or what. I have not bought any new music lately, that’s for sure. Hmm… how about songs that I get pumped about when I’m running? Ok, good.
The Rocky theme. I am so glad when this randomly comes on my ipod and I’m almost done with a run. I finish so much faster!
Simple Plan – I’d do anything. I don’t know why but this song just gets me going!
Rodney Atkins – He’s Mine. I chose the live version so you’d have something to look at but man, this song comes on and I get all goose-bumpy. Nothing like the love a father has for his son.
Ok, that’s what I got. Happy Monday!
