Random Talk to us Tuesday – Pre-turkey edition

Stacy

AND

Seriously Shawn

  • I made a pumpkin pie for fun on Sunday but then took it into the office. People kept asking why I wouldn’t just keep it. Ha! Don’t they know I’d eat it all within a matter of days (maybe hours?)
  • I like pumpkin pie but I am actually not that fond of the crust. I guess if I used a graham cracker crust instead it wouldn’t be so bad.
  • My kids know something is up; they’re acting funny.
  • They hate car travel just about as much as I do.
  • It’s all worth it for the Turkey Day food though. I think my favorite is when I have one bite of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce left and I combine it all together for a flavor explosion.
  • What’s your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal?
  • I kind of hate that I tend to overeat then fall into a food induced coma. But it’s kind of nice to sleep on the couch with a football game on in the background.
  • I DO have to run 5 miles that day though.
  • It is my job to make mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I have a special way of making both that my family really likes but I am kind of worried that everyone else will think they’re weird. (Nothing crazy like Cheez-its in the mac – I’ve seen that and it’s weird!)
  • Now, for something completely NOT Turkey related: (or is it?) Who really cares about Christina Aguilera’s weight?? I know that I, for one, couldn’t care less. We’ve all been able to accept overweight singers before (i.e. Adele) so what’s the big deal? Get over yourselves, people.
  • I wonder what vegetarians eat on Thanksgiving and if they don’t feel just a slight bit gypped out of the “real” meal.
  • It’s time to make the pre-trip ultimate “don’t forget this!” list. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

I tried to find a picture of a guy in some Thanksgiving related pose; either with a turkey or eating or sleeping post-meal. Alas, nothing. So, since I just saw both Immortals and Breaking Dawn, here’s Kellan Lutz.

  1. The real question is, what do you not like about Thanksgiving dinner? In which case I would say, absolutely nothing! I love everything about the Thanksgiving menu. During the holidays, I wish I were a picky eater then perhaps I wouldn’t over do it. Okay, I’ve been very good in the last several years to not over do the eating. I have learned to curtail my habit a lot. No more do I feel like a stuffed turkey. Now lets sing, “Over the mountains and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go…” Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving, my friend!

  2. I wonder about the overweight singers as well. Its almost like, if you’re an overweight Diva, you sing better. Aretha Franklin??? Does that make me sound horrible? I LOVE those ladies though!

I really enjoy your blog, and I was wondering if you would like to be flooing buddies??

  3. I don’t get the hype about weight either.
I like everything about Thanksgiving, especially the leftovers.
I have to check tonight and make sure I have everything I need to start cooking tomorrow. I think I need yeast for the rolls I want o make, but I’m not sure. Time to investigate the cabinets again.

  4. Oh wow. HE.IS.HOT isn’t he? I loved Breaking Dawn. Did you? My favorite part of Thanksgiving is EATING all that good food. I just love to eat. I’ll need to run 5 miles too but I won’t. It’s like -20 degrees outside. (Im at the inlaws in Michigan). I’m with you on Christina’s weight. So stupid.

Thanks for linking up! I’ve been missing reading you. I’ve been a slacker lately. =(

  5. Oh Thanksgiving…sooooo good…I hate that ours is over already while you guys are just gearing up for yours! That being said, my mom roasted a chicken Sunday night for dinner with all the trimmings, so it was kinda like a mini-Thanksgiving. 🙂

And THANK YOU for that picture of Kellan Lutz. YUM!

  6. I hear you on the weight..but dang some people think being the least little bit overweight is leading to an epidemic..like it is catching..please don’t stand too close to me or you will really become fat! 🙂 I hope that you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  7. I live for stuffing…I can do without turkey but I get dibs on stuffing. Haven’t had homemade mac n cheese in years. Would you consider sharing the recipe?

  8. I love everything about the Thanksgiving Dinner – and since I’m the one that cooks everything, I love it when everyone gobbles it down enthusiastically. 😉

I made a pumpkin pie for Princess Nagger for her birthday last week – between the two of us, we polished it up in just a few days. 🙂

I like weird (well, not cheez its weird) – so when are you going to share your recipes? 😉

Good luck with the car drive – I’m not looking forward to the road trip to Iowa for Christmas…it’ll be our first road trip with Little Dude and he’s the polar opposite of Princess Nagger (who loves road trips, and sits quietly in the backseat…LD will be a challenge!) 🙂

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
