Monday, Monday, you come so soon

I feel asleep and it was one of those times when I didn’t actually think I was about to fall asleep… sleep just overtook me. Then I woke with a start around 3:45 AM to the hooting of an owl who has taken up nightly vigil in and around my backyard as of late. Though I know it’s an owl, his call is very eerie and ominous. It’s as if I know he’s about to swallow a small scurrying rodent. And then I think about the science experiment in 9th grade Biology where we dissected owl vomit and found all the tiny mammal bones. I just wish I could think about that during the day instead of the middle of the night.

Morning came swiftly and I was groggy and drained, still, but I dragged myself from bed and padded down the creaky wood-floor hallway, feeling the cool draft waft up from where the house’s previous owner mis-laid the slats. The thermometer read 47 and I was both excited and depressed by this; jacket weather: yay! The end of the year is on its way: boo. Time moves quickly now and yet I know that it still marches along at the normal speed; I just feel like we tumble towards Christmas now. Perhaps because so many holidays stack up at this time of year or because we look forward to the family togetherness and vacation time and all that just so very much.

My weekend was good but long; I shouldn’t complain about that but it felt taxing. Saturday I ran 6 miles – which was fine – and we walked and grocery shopped. In the evening, we watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the original live-action movie. It wasn’t as good as I remembered; Ell liked the fighting and the pizza eating but the rest was a lot of talking. Ash ran Sunday morning and we ate bagels and then it was football time. Elliot was entirely too obnoxious yesterday and needed multiple reminders about who is actually in charge around our house. Though Ash fully expected him to reply with “You are, daddy”, Ell had to think about it and then answered, “Mommy is.” Yer damn right, kid!

I was mildly freaking out when I had not yet received my Swapoween info and though they resent it, it simply did not come to my gmail account, for some reason. It didn’t even go to spam! But all is well and I know who I am shopping for and I am excited! I am even more excited to post pics of whatever my swap buddy deems fit to send. Mostly because I want to decorate. πŸ™‚

For Monday’s Music Moves me by:

The theme is 80s songs and here’s what first came to mind:

Oh Falco, so cheesy!

I remember watching Beavis and Butthead in the early 90s and the kid they hated always wore a Winger t-shirt but damn if this band wasn’t awesome! (Also, Kip Winger was kinda hot.)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! See you tomorrow for Random Tuesday and Talk to us Tuesday AND now, Happy List has moved to Tuesday. I am maxing out my blogging obligations for that day, I tell you.

  1. I know what you mean with everything on Tuesday–I think I’m gonna wrap it up in one big post and call it Random Happy Talking Tuesday.
I loved Winger back in the day.

  2. You could totally combine all the Tuesday stuff into one post and make it totally random! πŸ˜‰

I think there must have been something in the air yesterday – Little Dude was the BIGGEST challenge yet and had to have lots of reminders about who’s the boss in our house, too. Multiple wailing’s of “I don’t WIKE a time out!!!” were probably heard nationwide by the end of the day. πŸ˜‰

Love your choices – I forgot about those! πŸ™‚

  3. The 80s rocked! Sadly for some reason, I was unable to play your music selections. So, I just pretended to hear your groovy tunes float out my speaker this morning and began dancing in my seat. lol Have a rock n’ roll week!
