Jeans, teeth, Veterans

Believe it or not, I feel like this weekend was actually long enough. I’m not sighing here at my desk thinking, ‘where did the time go?’. On Saturday, it was my plan to go out – by myself – and look for a new pair of jeans. However, Ash decided that he too ought to buy some new work pants. So we pack up the boy and we all head to the mall. On a Saturday. The busiest shopping day of the week. And it was alright. I tried on about 14 pairs of jeans and NONE of them worked. Well, except the first pair. The ones I have are American Eagle but this style is retired. I found some similar ones and they were on sale! Well, they were on sale for the reasonable price I consider paying for jeans: 30 bucks. I might pay 40 if I fell in love with them. Well, the ones on sale didn’t come in my size and short. Alas, I did find some in that size on another rack. Oh, but those – that wash – are not on sale. No no, those are 55. Are you kidding me? So I stepped out of line and Ash got the two shirts he found. That was the first place we went into and it all went downhill from there. Ash found new khakis, nice new shoes, and a belt while I tried on pair after pair of jeans that were either too long or too stretchy or too bulgy in the crotch, which is a side effect of that stretch material, I think. Oh and also? Not everyone wants to wear “skinny boot cuts”, OK? OK??

Elliot has revived the drool factory and I have a terrible awful no good feeling that it’s the beginning of more teething. It was absolutely dreadful there for about 2 months (maybe from months 6-8?) and I do not look forward to that again. He was pretty good over the weekend, except for that half hour right after his afternoon nap where he didn’t want his snack and he pretty much just felt like sitting in a lump on the floor and crying. Nothing really made it any better. I took him with me to Target and he wasn’t even very good there, which is compeltely unlike him because he loves going out. That’s our one trump card in any event of meltdown. He can be trusted to be well-behaved and HAPPY at the store. But yesterday, he squawked and whined for about half the time then laid his head down on the cart (on the nice cushy cart cover) and worked it out. Then suddenly, he was fine. From 5-7:30 he was perfectly happy. Very very weird. But then again, toddlers ARE weird.

Seems like a lot of folks took today off so that, with tomorrow’s observed holiday, they can have a four day weekend. Slackers. Always looking for a way out of work. Ok, not everyone is like that but the people  in a couple offices that I know definitely expressed it that way. If you hate work so much, do something else. But these people all seem like they work just to use their time off. Lame. I just think you should appreciate your off time but also, like and appreciate your job. But, the world is not a perfect place, is it?

With that, I leave you to begin on the numerous projcts I have to accomplish, which I don’t necessarily look forward to but will feel awesome about once they are done.

Happy Monday!

  1. You know I actually FORGOT that tomorrow is a holiday, and that technically I have off work? FORGOT! It as like finding a friggin $100 bill in my winter coat pocket after a long summer.

Unfortunately, I actually DO have to work on the holiday, but it means I get my holiday repaid at a later date. Yippee!

I felt like I needed to tell you that.

AMEN about those darn skinny jeans.
