Weekly wind-down

Two of the sites I would like to visit, Twitter and Amazon, are currently unavailable. I feel this a great inconvenience to me, as I am bored to absolute tears here in my office at 5 of 4 PM, Friday afternoon.

My BIL is leaving (on a jet plane) for the next 11 days. I like him, really I do. But I am looking forward to his absence. I think Ash might be too since he asked this question yesterday: “So what do you want to do or get done this weekend with Elliot gone?” I think he finally “gets” what I have been whining about ever since the initial coolness of having another person around wore off. It’s not like we couldn’t get things done as normal with him living in our house. But there was some odd force at work that kept us from being “normal.” (Sorry for my overuse of quotation marks. I wrote myself a ticket for excessive use on a blog.)

My BIL also came home completely drunk last night, because a couple people from the job he’s now leaving took him out. He stumbled in the door around 9 (after having gone directly to the bar after work) and he was wrecked. I remember those days. I don’t miss them. He totally fell asleep on the couch (where we, of course, photographed him) and apparently only moved to throw up in my kitchen sink during halftime of the Celtics/Lakers game. I was, luckily, asleep. In my half-awake state, Ash recounted how he backed up the drain and Ash had to reach his hand in there to de-clog it. I am so proud.

So yes, this weekend might include such exciting things as cleaning off my desk! and mowing the lawn! and scrubbing toilets and bathtubs! I bet you’re jealous. Also, we’re going to my friend’s son’s first birthday party. Pics to follow. Don’t miss it!

  1. Where are the pictures of the drunkard? You know, shaving the eyebrows is totally legal in those situations. 🙂 Not that I speak from experience or anything.
