The last 16 hours have been an interesting sort of vortex of time. I was very worked up last night about getting ready to go out of town TONIGHT and I ran around the house like, well, like a clichéd chicken trying to gather items we need, do laundry, make dinner, and then, THEN, at about 10, I finally settled down to feed Elliot and get him to bed. Well, that was a bust. Earlier, like at about 4 0’clock, daycare had called and explained that he was running a fever. So, I left work and went to get him to pump him full of Tylenol. That couple hours was nice; I undressed him to a diaper – because he was burning up – and we sat in the nursery. I could tell he didn’t feel well but he was quiet and being cuddly. But by bedtime, he was still feeling not so well. I guess it was close to 11 when I put him in his crib and he had no intention of falling asleep. I guess he fussed for about 30 minutes before finally settling. I’ve read a lot of things saying some babies need to get that out before sleeping. And Elliot is apparently growing to be one of those children.
ANYway, I reached my pinnacle of my stress and, as always, had a bit of a breakdown. Finally got to sleep around 12:30 and slept like a LOG until 5 AM when Elliot awoke. But think of it: he went from about 10:30 until 5. Dare I say he is getting better? I don’t want to jinx myself.
This morning, I was running late. I got into my office at 8:17. Oh and did you know that the US postal service has taken away all stamp vending machines? I mean, ALL, as in, across the nation. This was something that made my life ten times easier. And now, it’s gone! What a way to start a Friday.
been busy since that moment and I am planning on taking my lunch break to catch up on packing and just being generally prepared for this weekend. I could use a big glass of water. Or a big latte. Whichever, I’m not too picky.
