Did you know that some malls opened at 1 AM? How long before stores don’t close anymore? How long before we don’t care about people anymore and only money?

I dipped into the local Big Lots earlier this week, and one of their radio-like announcements informed shoppers that they would be open on Thanksgiving Day. Who needs to go to a Big Lots on Thanksgiving? I feel sorry for people who work retail, especially this time of year – crappy pay, horrible hours, and crabby customers.
I bought into all the Christma$ commercialism must-spend-lots-of-money brainwashing in the 90s, but I’m trying to get away from that. I don’t want to feel panic when I hear Christmas carols. Come to think of it, I don’t want to HEAR Christmas carols until December.
While I try not to go shopping on those super-early sales, this year JoAnns had an incredible deal on a cutting table…I’m not made of stone!
Oh yeah, last year when I was working at Williams-Sonoma at our mall here, the mall opened at 1 am for door busters. Sonoma opened at 4 am without any special sales and did a not-so-great job in the projected earnings for the day. Go figure.
