One, make it two, I’m not driving

So let’s go back to Thursday night, shall we? Ash was taking a nap and I was tirelessly trying to remove dog nose residue from the glass door when the a/c unit fan began making a… squeak. It sounded like metal parts slightly rubbing on each other. This was a new noise for the thing so I was worried that I’d have to wake Ash up and tell him that I thought our 20 year old p.o.s. air conditioner might break soon. While practicing my “wax on, wax off” skills on the door, I tried out multiple ways to break it to my husband, so as to not freak him out right before his big trip this weekend to a friend’s wedding. Luckily, I didn’t have to do that at all! For about ten minutes later, the fan stopped moving altogether.

We called about ten heating/cooling specialist emergency numbers, finally getting to speak with a real person at three. It wasn’t worth it for someone to come out and to pay the after hours fee – running in the area of 225 bucks – because they all said it sounded like a fan motor and the guys on call never keep those with them. So, it’s nine at night in the Florida panhandle, in mid-July, and the temps have only just dipped into the high 80’s. It’s humid and ceiling fans do nothing but circulate the hot, suffocating air. Needless to say, that night was not condusive to sleep. After we scheduled a Friday morning appointment, Ash and I went out to Chili’s and came back to set up multiple standing fans to supplement. I slept from about 1-3:30, when Ash awoke to get ready to leave, then about 5-7 before having to go to campus. Sure, I had to unexpectedly take the whole day off (I had originally planned on leaving by 12) but I had to return some keys to the University Relations building.

Luckily, by 8:45, a repairman was in my driveway and I was only two hours away from cold air. My mother, sister, and aunt arrived shortly before 2 PM and we spent the day eating and hanging out and doing other various family things.

Look was my brother in law sent:
