MMMM + The never-ending work depression

Yes, when I’m home I am very happy/content but then when I have to return to this job…ugh. I just feel so dejected. Blah. But at least we had a nice weekend!

I only worked four hours Friday. Ash and I went to Maria Maria for lunch and then ran a couple errands for things like weed and feed for the front yard. We had movie tickets for Challengers at 4 so that was a nice way to spend the late afternoon. It was a decent movie; nothing amazing. We pretty much just hung around after that; the kids were in and out with friends and whatnot.

Saturday I got up and sprayed said weed and feed and then we did some other various things. Lunch was pan-seared chicken, my good, more work-intensive mac and cheese, and I made both green beans and asparagus. It was a lot of food! I had settled on doing laundry that day too, including sheets and we even flipped the kids’ mattresses! Really catching up on those mundane tasks. I can’t really remember what all else we did; I know we watched Licorice Pizza, which was an ok movie. Then later on that night we watched Shawshank Redemption since Elliot had never seen it. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep during that.

Sunday we’d planned to brew another kolsch so I got my two mile run in and a Publix trip. We brewed and I made lunch (spaghetti). We also – finally – got rid of the old pool cover. It was one of those blue ones made to go on at night to keep the heat in and it was useful before we cut down trees in the yard. It’s sat rolled up on this big roller arm thing for the past 2 summers. We never used it anymore and I was thrilled to finally get it gone, especially since it was deteriorating and all these little blue pieces were in the grass.

In the afternoon, we mostly just cleaned up and worked in the house on little things and around 6, I took Koda to do some dance pictures with a friend of ours. So, all in all, a very nice weekend. I woke up this morning not wanting to leave my bed; just felt all cozy and obviously, dreading work.

Freebie week. I haven’t really been discovering any new music lately. Mostly just the same old stuff. Every now and then I will hear a song on yacht rock that is new to me but honestly, I can’t think of any. So this one randomly came to mind and it’s what you get.

  1. You’ve emotionally moved on from that job, so it’s torture to have to show up for it. I hope you find something else soon or consider things you can do from home while your kids are home. You’ll never regret it. But hang in there.

  2. When our son was an older elementary aged kid or maybe a young teen, he loved Shawshank Redemption. I didn’t realize the version we were watching on TV had been “cut” — as in some of the worst things were removed. Imagine my surprise when I bought the DVD for his Christmas stocking . . .and we put it in to watch and EVERYTHING was included.

  3. I like listening to Yacht Rock, very easy going music that makes my mind relax. Here’s hoping your work life soon gets better. Have a boogietastic week!

  4. Hubs and I just discussed flipping our mattress. Not sure we’re stong enough lol. It it so ridiculously heavy and it’s king sized. I might have to prep for that job! It’s hard to be in a job when you know you’re moving on. Keep doing the little things that bring you joy in between.

  5. I love Shawshank …one of my all time favourite films. For some reason, you seem to have a less busy weekend…lol. sorry to hear how much you dislike your job. It’s rough when you don’t like it but I hope you can find a new one or just come to terms with your job and do your time as they say. Enjoyed the musical offering.

  6. Hang in there! The job situation has an end date, at least. and you can concentrate on finding something that lines up with your talents. Good luck! Maybe the same old same old songs but it was new to me, so it wasn’t the same old same old at least for me. And I loved The Shawshank Redemption. I’ve seen it (on TV) several times over the years. Alana ramblinwitham
