- I thought about it this morning and you know, things don’t have to be “great!” Or “awful!”. They can just be “fine” and I should recognize that that’s ok. We don’t have plans this weekend so I want to really appreciate my time and get stuff done. Yesterday morning when I was up early (since that is seeming to be a thing) I made a list of stuff to do around the house that includes, but is not limited to: putting away any Halloween decor and rearranging Autumn stuff; Swiffer upstairs; Tidy the front foyer which has become a gathering place; Clean out the refrigerator.
- Today, my daughter has the rescheduled fall dance from a few weeks ago when they thought we were going to get more of Hurricane Isaias. I almost always do the taking and ask another mom to pick up but the mom got to me first and well, I’m on the hook for pick up. Ugh. It ends at 8 but I think I’m going to tell her to be ready by 7:45. If it’s going to be dark by 6 these days, I definitely don’t want to be out doing stuff “late”, which is really NOT late, but it feels like it. Her band concert ended around 6:50 last night and I fully expected the clock to read 9 when we got in the car. My body can not adjust! We got home and while I did a few things, I sat down to watch football and found myself asleep from probably 8:40-9:45. Then I was awake until probably 11:30! I am sure one of these days I will catch up and be normal but for now, not so much.
- I have often mentioned the sheet pan fajita chicken I make; tomorrow I’m planning to go all out: yellow rice, guacamole, and I’m going to try my hand at a pinto bean recipe. I keep seeing them on Pinterest with varying ingredients, but it mostly involves half an onion, spices, and peppers. I did save a youtube short from this funny lady who sort of yell/instructs so maybe that’s the one. Either way, I figured it would be good. I WANT to to out to eat but don’t want to needlessly spend money either. But mostly because my trip to NCTE has been approved so in a couple weeks, my school is flying me to Philly. Hotel and flight are paid for of course but food is another thing. On my receipt it shows 100 for “meal reimbursement” but I’m not sure how it works. I’m wondering if it means I have to eat at the conference itself or of it’s more of a per diem allowance, which would be better. (Philly didn’t seem too expensive, but we had just come from Boston which was decidedly more than most places.)
- The hotel – I THINK – is the one right by Reading Terminal and if so, they can be assures that about 23 of those dollars will be spent on an Uncle Gus’s cheesesteak. While the family wasn’t impressed when we ate it this summer, I thought it was amazing. Ash DID find a really good soft pretzel in the Terminal so he can eat that. Oh yeah, he’s coming too. Sadly, different flights because of the way my booking worked, but it’ll be a nice little getaway for us. Anyone in the region? Is it cold yet?
- So, I said all is well but the drive to work was quite annoying. For one, it was pouring rain! I left early and was not even close to being on time. Had no umbrella, walked into my room and it was 68 degrees, (which is confounding because we are strictly instructed to turn our thermostats to 75 when we leave in the afternoon and they are NEVER there the next day), then I proceeded to knock things off my desk and drop stuff, somehow. However, I am turning my mood around now. Time is flying by, which is good and bad!
