Friday Five – November, incoming

  1. Ah Friday, we made it. I always go into Monday thinking how the week will be so long and then get to the end and think it went fast! Just need to make it through today, when kids are dressed up for Halloween and distracted. Plus, heading into a weekend and daylight savings time and I am all kinds of frazzled.
  2. I had three other bullets written and then, sadly, it didn’t save. Alas. ‘Tis Friday, after all! I am dressed as Lady MacBeth (photos possibly coming soon; one of the yearbook kids has me camera). I have fake blood on my hand (“out out, damned spot!”) as well as a chalice for, you know, my poison. I even made a cardboard bloody dagger. Would I even be a Literature teacher if I didn’t dress appropriately?
  3. This morning, my son woke up way too early to get his Hammerhead (the machine pool people use for leaves) off the truck and charge it before work and so, I was awake at 5:15. Ugh. But that was a little bit of a blessing because I did something I tend to do a bit later in the year: watched the Publix holiday commercial compilation. Always in need of a good cry. For real; watch it and tell me you had zero reaction. Go ahead; I’ll wait…
  4. You cried, right? It’s so cozy and comforting! I needed it because honestly, I have been running into way too many warnings about another government shut down – but for real this time. At least, that’s what people say. While I think I believe in God a little too much to think we’re on the brink of total collapse, it does still stress me a bit.
  5. Plans for today include… not much. I’m not planning to stick around work for too long after that bell and I want to just go home and watch movies with my husband. Sounds like a good time to me! Happy Friday, folks.
