Wednesday’ Podge – 1.21 Gigawatts

1. This week’s Hodgepodge lands on ‘Back To The Future Day’. October 21, 2015 was the date the movie characters (Marty McFly, Doc, and Jennifer Parker) traveled to in the future in the 1989 film Back To The Future Part 2.

Did you see the movie? Tell us a something about what was happening in your life in the fall of 2015.

I LOVE that movie! Once, a while ago, my husband and I ranked our top movies of each decade and he and I had the same top 2 for the 80s, just swapped. So mine are #1 – Back to the Future, then #2 Die Hard. BTTF is definitely an all -time favorite and I could actually watch all 3 ad nauseum.

In my life in 2015, well, we were busy! I had a 2 year old, 5 year old, and an 8 year old. We were in the thick of youth sports for the boys, as well as running marathons/half-marathons. We also went to Hawaii for our 10th anniversary, then came home and ran a Tough Mudder! It was a good year.

2. Which -ber month is your favorite? (September, October, November, December). Explain why.

Hmm, it’s definitely NOT September. I love October but realize that it’s always dark – dark in the morning and in the evening. I’m going to go November because the time change happens and then we roll into a week off for Thanksgiving and I love Thanksgiving.

3. Red, yellow, orange, bronze…your favorite fall color to wear? To eat? To see in nature?

I don’t own a lot of those but I’ll go with red. I love a good sunset so…all of them? To eat, probably orange because all I could think about were the orange peppers I put in my fajita chicken. Though fair to say, I put one of each, minus green peppers because those are gross.

4. What do you miss most about being 20?

Um…nothing? I was self-conscious, overweight, and a hot mess. I guess if I had to pick something, it was the feeling that I had some responsibility but things felt semi-carefree still.

5. We’re roughly three quarters of the way through the year. What’s one goal, habit, or mindset you want to purposely carry into the final weeks of the year? Elaborate.

Well, I started it yesterday: weekday running. I had really gotten out of that habit but was managing a Sunday run. Well, I did one yesterday as soon as I got home, despite being hungry and just wanting to sit in my chair.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We are officially in that time of the year where things are TOO BUSY. Last weekend, some friends of ours had a whisky tasting in Jacksonville. In the past, we’ve attended but there was just no time to get away for a weekend, even if it was only a little over 2 hours away. This weekend is busy as well, but mostly because of that pesky Homecoming chaperoning I have to do. I am still not happy that I have to but I’ll manage. Tonight we are seeing the new Street Fighter movie, then tomorrow we have a meeting. It’s always something, all the time!

I am also finally coming to terms with the fact that my family is going to be here, there, and everywhere all the time now. My kids have their own lives – even my youngest. She’s busy tonight then has a Halloween thing at the church this weekend. It’s good, of course. I love that for them. But also, tough to wrap my brain around. I can tell you – Sunday lunch was really nice. We all ate together! It’s a rarity these days. All I can do is take those moments when they come and be grateful for them.
