Trip recap part four – We were done

The drive from Maryland to Savannah took somehow much longer. We did stop somewhere in South Carolina at a bbq place called Redneck bbq lab, which was fantastic. Then we stopped elsewhere at a beer can store. But by the time we got to Savannah, we were all feeling tired and ready to be done. It was also pouring rain and there was no street parking so we found a public garage and had to haul coolers and the suitcase about a half block. We loved the last airbnb; it finally had more than one bathroom and plenty of space. Sadly, as we found the next day, we really didn’t have that much to do.

In fact, we walked up and down Broughton street once, then went back out to a place called Bomber Betty’s, which was a WW2 themed diner in the American Legion, but then we all kind of agreed there wasn’t much to do unless you like shopping. Plus, not a great beer scene and the few breweries weren’t even open on Monday. So after some deliberation, we got the kids ice cream from Leopold’s, packed up and headed home! We all hated to cut the trip short but the money on the airbnb had already been spent and it was just time. We were home by about 5:45 that night (Monday) and I think everyone was very thankful to be home. We had a great time, saw so many cool historical things, and enjoyed most of the travel itself. But there’s nothing like going home to your own bed and comfortable spaces.
