Hello Monday- It certainly is a Monday

Ugh; I just dictated almost my entire weekend into the phone on my drive into work and then accidentally refreshed and lost it all! Sigh. I’m going to be positive though and not let that be an omen of how the day will go. Anyway, my weekend: it started off in a good way when I left work right at 3:00. The school had a fun game type thing where all the classes played against each other and once that was done everybody bailed out. That was really nice though because I was able to go home and get a run in before my son’s girlfriend showed up just before prom. I was able to take pictures of them and see them off. She is a senior so this is their last prom together. Because my husband was in Gainesville doing Brew club related errands, I had planned to get Chipotle for the three of us. After we ate my daughter and I took a one mile walk in the neighborhood, which was nice. It was a good way to decompress after the week. Ash got home around 9:00 and we kind of caught up on what he did while down there and I think that was it. I don’t remember watching a movie that night as we typically do.

Saturday I woke with the intention of doing yard work – and I did! I intended to do more than I did but the body only holds up for so long. I got out there and raked up about four piles of leaves. But we have a large yard so that was only a fraction of it. When I couldn’t rake anymore, I got carried away cutting branches off this tree that had grown up too much near one of my fences and up over the neighbor’s fence. I sent her a quick text letting her know that Isaac and I were working on it and he might jump into their yard. We have awesome neighbors so they didn’t really mind. Oh yeah, and on that note, I didn’t ask my child to come out and help – he just did! Love that kid. We worked for as long as we could cutting the overgrowth and then I hit a stopping point. But also we had to get going; our real estate agent does a client appreciation once a year and this year he had it set at Maclay gardens with food and a professional photographer taking family portraits. I thought that was a really nice idea. Everyone came, though the boys drove separately. We had not walked around Maclay gardens since our wedding, nearly 21 years ago! There are adjoining walking and riding paths that we’ve been on plenty, but we hadn’t been back into the gardens proper. This is amusing to me simply because it is just outside my neighborhood. They often put on events too, but we just never go to them. It kind of made me feel like we should. We took a few pics while we walked around and even saw a small gator! (It is Florida after all.)

Anyway, after the portrait and all that we went into the store for sandwiches and then it was time to sit. LOL, just kidding; it was time to do laundry. Once I got that started though, we sat down to watch our typical Saturday movies. Ash and I really like watching movies together and if we can find old ones, we do. This weekend’s viewing was a movie called The Keep, which was interesting and entertaining. The second movie we watched was The Frighteners which I am surprised I have not seen because people talk about how good it is. I have to beg to differ, because it just wasn’t paced right. At an hour in, I was thinking that movie was almost done but it was not and we still had another hour to go. But it is what it is; you can’t win them all.

We played our bowling game in the evening and Elliot eventually got home from prom. It was a nice day. Sunday, I started on a couple things early but Ash was seemingly sleeping in. I had a feeling he would because he was up in the middle of the night with heartburn issues. This changed our plan from brewing to…not. Once he got up I suggested we not push ourselves to do it then, since we’d already be getting a late start. So instead, we took a nice four mile walk. I saw my first rabbit of the season! It’s usually not until May when the bunnies come out. Feeling motivated, and knowing we had to get the pool cover folded up and put away, we went right out and dealt with that. One of the mosquito fans wasn’t working so Ash got that going again; it’s almost always a lizard that’s somehow gotten in and stopped the fan but this time it was a two-parter: a lizard and a wasp nest! Sigh. I had to run to the store but then I made tacos. I’d already made my guacamole earlier so I was ahead. Finally able to sit, we watched the 1960s Pit and the Pendulum, which was decent. I cannot for the life of me remember what we watched next, which is frustrating. I know that in the afternoon, my daughter hung out with a friend, our pool lady came by to dump chemicals into our swamp (since we cover the pool in the winter it always ends up going green), and then by the evening, I was ready to check out, mentally. I feel like I am almost always overwhelmed these days, even if in my recaps it seems like everything is fine, just fine! Guess that’s just life, you know?
