Wednesday ‘Podge – Springy

  1. It’s officially spring in the northern hemisphere. Does it feel like spring in your part of the world? If you’re in the southern hemisphere it’s officially autumn where you live. Does the weather say autumn? Which do you prefer-spring or autumn? Why?

We have had some spring temps for sure and if my allergies are any indication, spring is here. I like the feeling of renewal in spring but enjoy how autumn feels too. I think I like the aesthetic of fall more; the colors, the feel, the closing down of summer.

2. What’s your favorite thing about spring?

Hmm, I guess how it’s so green outside. Though it also means my yard will start growing and yardwork calls all. the. time. Plus, we’re entering into pollen season and the oak fuzz things are everywhere.

3. Spring into action, spring in your step, spring to life, spring to one’s feet…which spring idiom currently applies to your life in some way? Explain.

Spring into action – what with going back to work and starting new units in each class. Plus, I have a lot of things on my personal to-do list.

4. Which spring food from this list is your favorite? What’s a dish you like that includes your favorite spring ingredient?
asparagus, strawberries, salad greens like mesclun, artichokes, spinach, eggs, peas, spring onions

I love pretty much all of those except peas. I don’t know why. I eat them all in one way or another. Lately, I have been adding spinach (and mushrooms) to my scrambled eggs.

5. What’s one task on your spring cleaning list? Do you actually have a list?

I don’t but I know there are things to be done in the house. Probably cleaning out drawers and piles in the kitchen.

6. Insert your own random thought here:

Having just started quarter 4 here at school, it doesn’t really feel like we’re off to the races, since I’m leaving at 1:15 Friday, then next week have a half day Thursday and I’m off Friday and Monday. Can’t complain about having all those days off for Easter! I plan to get a lot done in my house and in the yard. Update on my friend/lawn guy: his brain tumor was entirely removed, though he does still have to get some radiation. I don’t know when he’ll be back to his normal life so in the meantime, I have to keep an eye on the hedges. My middle said he’d be willing to do it if I paid him which, I mean, he’ll charge me less than Joe anyway!

Not exactly feeling like myself today but not sure why. Just a lot of stuff coming up soon and it feels impending rather than exciting, though some of it should, like this weekend in Gainesville. I kind of hate that this fest always seems to fall right around my birthday, but so be it. My middle asked me today where we were eating for my birthday and I don’t think he realized we were out of town. I suppose we can do something when we get back Sunday. Besides, my kids have stopped making mine a big deal anyway; my oldest’s girlfriend shares the same one so I mean, he’s got her on his mind over me anyway!

  1. Good news for your friend regarding removal of the tumor!! Since I work in a church, we definitely aren’t off anytime until after Easter. The week after Easter, we are allowed to take a few days off (if needed) and to keep our schedule slower (when possible).

  2. Ahh! I am just waiting for my allergies to hit, I am not looking forward to that. It sounds like a busy time for you, I hope you can make your way through your to do list easily. That is great news about your friend and his brain tumour.

  3. It’s nice your son asked about your birthday meal : ) I’m glad the drs. were able to remove the tumor and hope his recovery goes well. A busy calendar is a funny thing. We also have a lot of fun things on ours, but there can be some stress for me with how much there is going on. I’m ready for some lazy lake days! Have a nice week!
