Wednesday ‘Podge – Wintry things

1. What kind of winter person are you-snow lover, fireplace snuggler, winter adventurer, or indoor hibernator? Elaborate.

I want to be an adventurer but I am more the indoor hibernator. Where I live, we get bouts of cold but it always warms again, at least a little. So I do then venture out and try to get more outside time. I enjoy daily walks but if it’s in the 40s, no thanks.

2. The Pantone color of the year is cloud dancer, described as a gentle, billowy off white shade. The color symbolizes ‘peace, clarity, quiet reflection, renewal, and a soft reset’. Of the terms just listed which do you need most in your life this winter?

Clarity. I think we could all use some of that, right? I need to have a clear mind and that will help me see things in life more clearly.

3. Every cloud has a silver liningon cloud ninehead in the cloudsstorm clouds gathering, or cloud of suspicion...which ‘cloud’ idiom do you most relate to currently? Explain.

Head in the clouds. Though we just went back to work, I am certainly already dreaming about a break of some sort. We have some short trips coming up and I have begun thinking about maybe a weekend trip at the start of Spring Break. It may not happen, what with everything else going on, but I will still daydream about it.

4. coconut, cauliflower, cottage cheese, mayonnaise, onions, ranch dressing…of the white foods listed, which would be the hardest for you to give up? Do you like all or any of the foods on the list?

Hmm, probably cottage cheese or mayo. I do really like cauliflower too. I HATE ranch and it’s also a horrible food for you. I like onions but it depends how. If a sandwich has white onion on it, that thing is ruined, take it away. Now, red onions in guacamole? Bring it on.

5. Thomas Wentworth Higginson is credited with this quote-

“How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose, if there were no winter in our year.”

Agree or disagree? Tell us why.

I think I agree in the same sense that if we never saw any “bad” how would be know or understand “good”? So then, as the seasons shift and we head into a more slow or stagnant season of cold and indoor hiding, we learn a lot from the emergence into spring and then summer. We are thankful for the fleeting nature of each.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Not only is it cold today but it’s also gray out and a little misty. There must have been some kind of controlled burn going on near my school too because it was smoky when I got in. Classes are moving right along but I feel myself teetering on the edge of disorganization. I need to spend some good quality time planning!

We saw Marty Supreme last night and it was good but it wasn’t amazing. I don’t know why people are putting this as their #1 movie for the year. It was certainly interesting and a wild, chaotic ride, but it didn’t blow me away. I do think Tim-o-tay did a fine job and all but his weasley little mustache bothered me all movie.

  1. I would love to be a winter adventurer but I just don’t have it in me, I’d much rather be inside where it’s warm.
Ahh! I have been looking back at planning a little break away, I am blaming January being the most depressing month of the year.
Good luck with the planning. I hope the classes go well.

  2. I agree about being thankful for the fleeting nature of each season. By the end of most of them, I´m ready for a change ;). Our day is gross and gloomy out here, too, and temps are projected to plummet. Not fun! But this, too, shall pass. I´ve not heard of the movie you saw. I like how you watch the movies that are nominated for awards. have a great day!
