Hello Monday – It got all cold again

I swear, on Saturday I wore shorts and short sleeves to the morning soccer game and was actually a little hot while working on a few yard things. And this morning? 36, feels like 30. No thanks!

Anyway, Friday feels like a lifetime ago, for some reason. Classes went quickly and for as much stuff as I had to plan, I spent the last part of the day in the faculty lounge. My brain was pretty fried after the first full week back after break. Got home and caught up with the things my husband had done around the house. He’d taken the day off so he could. When my daughter got home, we decided to go out to Longhorn because we hadn’t had steak in a while. The meal was pretty good, I must say. Nothing like steak, a baked potato, and a salad to make you feel well-rounded. We came home and decided to watch The Incredibles, even though we have so many new movies to catch up on.

Saturday was a whirlwind of activity. I got my son up to the soccer fields by 8:45, then came back to get my daughter ready for her 11 o’clock game, as well as prepare for brewing. Got out all the equipment and made sure it was clean, etc. Ash went out to a lady’s house who was selling a hydraulic lift, useful for lifting heavy carboys. We left around 10:45 for soccer; her team got destroyed but I think they figured some things out. She had a great shot on goal but it went high; ugh. Came home and began the brewing process (we made a porter) and somewhere during the mash I picked up Isaac and went to the store for sandwich stuff. In and around the brew, we bottled a beer for an upcoming competition and did some other house things. It was a very long, busy day!

In the evening, we just had some beer and played some bowling. There was football that night but I was exhausted.

Sunday morning, I woke up feeling a little worse for wear because I didn’t sleep well. I was generally hot and uncomfortable. Had coffee and worked to put clean brewing equipment away before heading to a fellow club member’s house to sort bottles for the competition. So for those unfamiliar, these homebrew competitions set a certain # of entries, then entrants send 3 bottles of whatever style they choose. The organizers (in this case, us) receive, unpack, then sort by style/medal categories. The tedious part of the process is removing their identifying info from each bottle and replacing with coordinating # stickers, as to make it anonymous for the judges. All they know is style. We took about 2 hours for this process, which was good. Pretty efficient, we were. Anyway, I wasn’t feeling like cooking so we went out to lunch with the kids. I feel kind of bad for choosing to go out more recently but hey, if I eat keto home cooked meals all the other days, it balances out, right?

We mostly just watched football in the afternoon/evening. I took my daughter to the youth group and finished up laundry before crashing in bed kind of early.

So yes, today is very cold and I am not happy it. Especially since when I’m eating keto, I tend to be colder anyway. Double whammy! I have to make a list of things to get done this week or else I fear I am going to be very overwhelmed. Happy Monday!

  1. I, too, am a list maker — I’m sometimes feel like my notebook is my lifeline! I actually still love use paper. I use my google calendar for a million things – sometimes I have things written down and on my google calendar haha!

  2. It sounds like a good, full weekend! It is cold here as well… But that´s very typical for January in Ohio. I´m sure the weekend was super welcome after five days of work after the break.

  3. We’ve had the yo-yo temperatures too. And we sometimes get wild swings throughout the day. I go into work wearing a parka and mittens, then need nothing for the ride home!

Probably feels good to get the first full week after break in the books. Lists are our friends!
