- Oh boy, I got to work yesterday and was NOT doing well. I had so much congestion in my face that my head was as heavy as a stone. I found it hard to think and concentrate. Luckily, I ran into our college advisor and she offered to sub my 5th period, so I left at lunch.
- This worked out well for me because Ash had to go to the bank then, so he and I met at Carrabba’s and I had soup. I then went home to hop into the sauna, then I took a two hour nap. It was nice to just…rest.
- I think what happened is that after all our party obligations were over and I could relax, that coming down period allowed my body to become susceptible to illness.
- I took Mucinex last night and feel a lot better today, though did come equipped with Zicam and daytime Mucinex, as well as tea and cough drops.
- It’s day one of midterms at school so all I am doing is…administering. I get to sit here quietly while they work and honestly, that’s not too bad. However, it is freezing in my classroom – 65 and not going up whatsoever. The heat struggles when it’s this cold out.
- I meant to recap my weekend but it went so quickly. I got home Friday and began on last minute party prep. Saturday was the big day: our annual Christmas party. The 5th year in a row! In the AM, Ash and Isaac put out the tables and game stuff, I swept and vacuumed, then we awaited arrivals. People came at 1 for a bottle share and 2 for everyone else. We ended up having around 60 people in total, which is low comparatively but not for how people have been attending other events these past couple years. I think people got out more during Covid than they do now!
- We had fun though and the games, as always, went over well. Last year we had 3 rounds of the same game at different tables and it was chaos. This year, teams went one by one for 5 events: build a Lego ornamaent, box it, wrap it, place it under a tree, then they had to toss 5 “gold” rings onto little posts to complete the mission. People really enjoyed them, it seems.
- This week shows me the light at the end of the tunnel: just 3.5 more days until the Christmas break and I will say, I appreciate it a lot more now that I am working 5 days a week. I always got this much time off, but when I was on campus only two days a week, it wasn’t that impactful. Now it is.
I am super impressed that you threw a party with 60 people! Games, tables, food, drink- and all with you and your husband working full time during the week? That´s a feat I´d have trouble accomplishing if didn´t sub for two weeks straight!! Glad you are feeling better and that you got someone to cover for you so that you could relax and nap. That is wonderful. Three more days- you got this!
