Wednesday ‘Podge – Nice and Autumn-y

1. What do you like most about your family?

Hmm, I suppose that even though we do seem to be doing a lot of our own things these days, we still come together for various things. We’ll all watch a movie or go out to eat; sometimes everyone comes down to watch football. We’ll have a fire and kids slowly filter outside to enjoy it. They’re all getting to an age where I don’t want to force them and they don’t need supervision anymore – and this is a weird time to enter into as a parent! – so I appreciate that they still want to do stuff with us.

2. What’s something nice that’s happened to you recently?

Last Wednesday, after PSAT testing, administration let teachers go home at 12:30. I was so excited! I picked up a sushi roll and some chicken salad from the store and went home to enjoy my magical half day.

3. Do you like the color orange? Besides a pumpkin and an actual orange, what’s something orange you love?

I wouldn’t wear it but I like it. I love it in a sunrise or sunset or as an accent color

4.  What’s something you have now you couldn’t have imagined having five years ago? How does that make you feel? What’s possible now because of it?

I guess…patience. While I do still sometimes become annoyed and flip out on, say, my kids, I am FAR better at calming myself and handling things and, at the same time, slower to answer and act in a lot of situations. I just figured I’d always be the annoyed mom, exasperated and at her wit’s end. But now, not as much.

5. Let’s wrap this one up with an October this or that…

  • pumpkin bread or apple cider donut

               pumpkin bread

  • cozy sweater or cozy hoodie

                hoodie

  • apple picking or pumpkin picking

             pumpkin picking

  • scary movie or Hallmark movie

I hate to be “that” person but I dislike Hallmark so I guess I’ll go scary, since they dnon’t bother me like they used to

  • hayride or corn maze

                hayride

  • twinkle lights or candles

                twinkle lights

  • autumn hike or autumn bonfire

an autumn hike but man do I ever love a fire!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Sorry I can’t get ahead and post in the morning but hey, at least I am here. Today has been THE longest day! It is the feast day of St. John Paul II, who is our school’s patron saint. So we had mass and a eucharistic procession, right before lunch, so the whole day has just been so broken up and long. I am le tired. But of course, we also have a faculty meeting after this. Sigh.

  1. Hopefully you can relax at home after your long day. Patience is definitely a good thing to have and yes it is hard sometimes moving through the stages of our lives particularly where kids are involved.

  2. Hmmm. I’m not sure if this is going to be a double comment because my first attempt didn’t seem to post. I said that getting older has been a blessing because of the patience it has developed in me.

  3. Better late than never : ) I’m more patient with those I live with, love, and who’s paths cross mine as I go about my day. I’m less patient with the exasperating stupidity that seems to be all around us as a society. Hopefully you have a nice relaxing weekend planned.

  4. Doesn’t it feel so good when your kids are old enough that they CHOOSE to spend time with you? I love that about my stage of parenting as well. I’m forever late in getting my hodgepodge post done – or at least in getting it linked and then commenting. Having a busy life AND a job gets in the way of our blogging hobbies sometimes! Hope your meeting didn’t last too long and that you’re having a great week!
