Friday Five – Ready for that weekend!

  1. I really meant to write yesterday but time got away from me and man, what a rough day Wednesday was! I talked about it with my students: the Charlie Kirk murder, the Colorado school shooting, and something that happened in my town – a guy jumped out at a running group of ladies in a nice park and stabbed two of them. They lived but it was like, what the heck is happening? I told them how I felt so dichotomous that day because with all the bad that was happening, I had a very good day: my daughter PR’d a cross country run (15:10 for 2 miles) and we went out for a friend’s birthday and had a really nice time.
  2. I guess that is the balance of life anyway: as they used to say, ‘you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have: the facts of life.‘ LOL.
  3. I hate to speak about how awful things are but man, they’ve really gone and done it now: I fear we will be more divided than ever. Because they took out the good guy; the best of them. As the memes keep saying: you won’t like who comes after Charlie. They’re probably right. At some point, people aren’t going to take it anymore!
  4. OK, new things: I leave for Germany in five days. I am very scared! But also excited. I like being in new places but hate the traveling. I am mostly planned out for my subs but also, a little behind so today is going to be BUSY.
  5. Despite being overwhelmingly busy, I feel like things are going well for us all. We’ve been watching football of course, my middle is doing really well in school so far, and my oldest is considering fire college. My daughter is keeping up in her HIGH SCHOOL class (in 7th grade!) and getting faster at running. At this point, no complains. Prayers it keeps up this way. Happy Friday, y’all!

  1. Good to hear from you! I have not seen memes about you won’t like who comes after Charlie. I mean, most of them hated Charlie and cheered at the news of his death so yeah, it’s true they won’t like who comes after Charlie, but also they didn’t like him either? Basically, they don’t like anyone disagreeing with them. Want to dialogue? Nope, I want to hate seems to be their MO. UGH. The violence towards the runners is horrible and disheartening. Speaking of running, though, how great that your daughter ran a good race- that’s a good pace! I hope your upcoming trip is a wonderful one. Looking forward to hearing about it and have a great weekend :).

  2. A rough week, for sure. But there’s always some silver linings?

Germany? Wow, sounds exciting. I agree with you. People who say, “I like to travel”, don’t really mean the travelling part!

  3. It does feel like some invisible thread that was holding the two sides tentatively together has been snipped and there’s no going back. If we can’t agree that seeing a murder in real time is completely awful we’re not the same. On the bright side…can’t wait to hear about your trip to Germany! Getting everything ready is th really hard part but once you’re en route I think you’ll relax and have fun.
