Monthly Musings – I almost forgot!

  1. Hmm, I guess I am looking forward to – hopefully – some good news from one of these jobs. I am trying to stay positive; balance the worry about it all with the everyday good stuff. My kids will swim and we have some trips on the books.
  2. We don’t necessarily have any other than the family beach day, which we did last Sunday.
  3. OK travel: Ash and Isaac are going end of June to see my brother-in-law run a 100 mile race. They’re meeting up with his family and a bunch of friends out near Tahoe. In late July, Ash and I will ride RAGBRAI in Iowa. Other than that, nothing planned! I did tell my daughter we might do another quick beach thing the weekend the menfolk are out of town.
  4. I usually do have some decor for the yard and my door. My mantle has an America sign and a big ol’ pledge so I red, white, and blue every day because I think this country is the best in the world. We MIGHT do fireworks if there’s time. Ash and Isaac get back, literally, on the 4th.
  5. I am a beach person through and through. BUT, I love using my pool and we have friends with a lake house that is also super fun when we go.
  6. I make this cool whip and berry dessert that’s really good. It’s a block of cream cheese, powdered sugar, berries, and cool whip. My family loves it. Of course, the kids enjoy popsicles all summer too.
  7. I use the Australian Gold SPF 30 tanner but I prefer Neutrogena SPF 75, the kind that is soft to the touch, not greasy. Also, any of the Sun Bum products.
  8. I think my sandals are Vionic. I prefer those over all others.
  9. Since I am biking, that kind of takes care of the fit part! This week, I have 3 20 mile rides and one 40. I am also trying to stay away from too much snacking.
  10. Probably Sandlot. But I know Ash and I have watched a lot of 80s/90s forgotten movies that centered on summer as well and of course, I can’t think of any others!

  1. Snacking in the afternoon is my downfall. I would love to eat dinner on the early side, but hubs likes to eat later. I don’t mind as much in the summer, since we’re usually out doing something after. That’s a lot of biking! Is Raggbrai mostly flat or are there a lot of hills? Do people use electric bikes or is strictly man powered?

    1. SO, every year the route changes. This year is a shorter, flatter year but I know there are hills. People use every kind of bike imaginable. We will be using road bikes but I know there will be a lot of e-bikers that will make me mad. LOL.

  2. I make a dessert similar to the one you described- so good! I’ve made it with a graham cracker crust and a pretzel crust. Either is good! One year, I had enough of my own strawberries to use and didn’t I feel almost homesteady- ha! (My strawb plants all died mysteriously a couple of years ago :(). That’s cool that you have access to a pool, beach and lake- I don’t feel like too many people have all three accessible.

  3. Your bike rides are awesome and 20 miles are pop will keep you fit for sure! I love Vionics too- they are sooo good for your back!
