Wednesday ‘Podge – Marching on

1. What do you love most about March?

You know, you’d think I’d say my birthday but no, I think what I love is that we usually have nice weather. I say usually because weather has been pretty weird in the past few years so I’m not sure it will be. I guess I am looking forward to, however, the weekend right after my birthday because we’re going to Gainesville for one of the best beer fests. We’re working it but still; should be fun.

2. Hey! Did you know March is National Celery Month? Do you like celery? What’s something you make (or like to order out) that calls for celery?

It’s a great carrier veg: peanut butter, dill dip, cream cheese with olives.

3. _______________ is the soundtrack to my life right now.

Hmm, I’ll go with birds are. We have had a lot of them this winter and whenever I sit in the sun room to work, I hear them making such a racket.

4. Share a favorite motivational quote for overcoming challenges.

I have mentioned this one before and while my sister didn’t come up with it, she said it to me once and I remember it so vividly. “It’s always ok in the end. If it not ok, it’s not the end.” I think this one always sticks with me because I don’t settle and I refuse to quit so it’s not over until things work out!

5. The Hodgepodge lands on Ash Wednesday this year. Do you participate in Lent in some way? If so tell us more.

No but I should. I used to. My mom is a Catholic who convinced us to always give something up. I believe more in balance so I don’t anymore. To be fair, I’ve done my fair share of fasting and abstained from stuff so, yeah.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We were slated to have “severe weather” last night but it wasn’t near as bad as they thought. But we still took precautions and put the cars in a safer place in the yard. Our neighbors have a lot of trees and the last time we had this much wind, a huge limb fell and cracked my windshield. But it rained from about 4-6 and then it was over and now it is sunny! This is my free day; I canceled classes and I am catching up on so much! I have to bike and I plan to rearrange/organize the pantry and clean up around here.

Yesterday I mentioned pruning back my elephant ear; should have taken a before pic of all the dead leaves that happened after our January ice storm. But look! It’s growing back so well! Even though it’s back there in my yard’s no man’s land, I still take care of him.

So long as I am motivated today, I’m going to add some more soil to my monster aloe plant and cut some vines encroaching on a camellia out in the back. Hopefully I can get all that done and feel like I am accomplished!

  1. We had crazy wind and heavy rain last night but it moved through quickly. There are some downed trees all around town, but I don’t think it was as bad as they expected.

  2. I’m glad you guys experienced no damage. It’s crazy windy here today, too. Celery as a carrier vegetable- I like that! (The description not the food- I don’t care for celery unless it’s soft and in a soup.) I like your quote. That is a good one! Hope you’re getting lots done today :).

  3. We were supposed to have a lot of wind today but so far it hasn’t materialized. We have a lot of tall pines so the wind makes me nervous. It’s been both warm and cold today, sunny and gray, so I guess it can’t decide what to do. March is like that. A birthday would definitely make the month better! Everyone deserves a celebration!

  4. Thank you for stopping over. Happy Birthday. Enjoy Gainesville. Yes, I agree with you on the celery. I wonder what’s up with the birds. I like your quote. Glad the weather turned out to be better than it was supposed to be. Hope you accomplished the things you planned on doing yesterday. Take Care.
