Wednesday ‘Podge – Warming trend

1. What was your after school routine like when you were a kid?

In elementary, up until 4th grade anyway, I walked home from school and my mom made me a snack and I have fond memories of playing in the backyard. But once she went back to work when my sister went to school, I still walked home but had to let myself in and take care of things for about an hour. I’d have some kind of granola bar, do my homework (always first!) then I usually went across the street to my friend’s house. We were not the best of friends but she was convenient. Then my evening consisted of a family dinner, even if my mom had to work (she sometimes worked retail) we’d have a nice meal then I’d get to watch some tv, take a bath, and it was off to bed. As I got older that obviously changed. In middle and high school I’d still do homework first but then it was phone calls to friends and listening to music, more tv.

2. January 26 is National Green Juice Day ( I guess it’s true everything really does have it’s day). Do you juice, as in make your own in an attempt to get healthy? Do you do the green juices? What’s your favorite kind of juice (home blended or store bought, either one)?

No, not really. I think they still have too many sugars – the store ones anyway. I am just not a juice person, to be honest. I would rather just eat a salad to get my greens.

3. What’s something trivial about which you have a strong opinion?

I am particular about people misspelling “every day”, as in, “we have low prices every day” but they write it “everyday”. NO! YOU’RE WRONG!

4. What do you need more of in your life? Less of?

I need more exercise (though biking is coming soon). I need less stress from minor things. I know this is on me.

5. Give us three adjectives to describe your January.

Icy, Long, Happier. I said the last one because normally, I hate this month. But I find that even in all this cold and whatnot, I am not as depressed as I usually am in this month.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I somehow missed this linkup last week; I guess it was because everyone was here. This week has been better. Everyone is back to “normal”. Well, sort of. We missed Trivia last week due to the ice so they moved it to last night. Only 3 of us went, of 13 potential, but we still won the first round. The 3 of us did really well, somehow. Also, the tie-breaker question was how many cards are in a deck of tarot cards? I had no idea so I wrote 80 but then crossed it out and put 40. The answer was 78 but I was still closest. LOL.

I have to teach today but then I’m free for four entire days. I love it. We have no plans this weekend, though I’m thinking about watching the Royal Rumble this year. I have a long history of going in and out of liking WWE. I think wrestling is so fun; the stories, the choreography, the muscly men. LOL. I am not entirely aware of what’s big in the world of wrestling anymore but that event is usually fun for a few legacy acts to show up. OK, off to finish up notes for my lectures and then, well, off to campus!

  1. I’d love all that blank space in a weekend! We have furniture being delivered (supposedly) which will be fun too. We ordered it back in the fall and I can barely remember what it all looks like. It’s for our outdoor space and we’re supposed to get up in the high 60’s this week so it will be great to have a place to sit outside again. I feel like January moved this year. I’m definitely ready for more daylight. Enjoy your day (and days without plans! ).

    1. I am VERY ready for more daylight! We’re on the other side of the dark, luckily. I think your outdoor space is going to look fantastic when it’s done!

  2. I try to look up the words that confuse me like “every day” vs. everyday. Same with “a while.” There’s no “awhile” is there? I don’t know. I’ve looked up many words to try to make sure I use the correct word (or two). I’m sure I make mistakes! With you on eating vegetables vs. drinking them!! Enjoy your days off after today :).

  3. What a good child you were doing your homework before doing anything else. Homework was always the last thing on my list. Eek.
Good luck with the biking, I am looking forward to nicer weather so I can get out on mine.
Yay to the wrestling! I got back into the WWE this time last year because of the Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns or CM Punk are my favourites to win.

    1. Yeah it’ll be interesting to watch at least. I have a special nostalgic place in my heart for it. I like Roman but just miss the days of the SHIELD most because Dean Ambrose was my favorite.

  4. A younger co-worker’s husband LOVES wrestling and he and his brothers go on these great trips to places like Vegas to watch some of the matches. I’ve never been into WWE or any kind of wrestling.

We always did homework first, too!
