- Stay tuned for my Friday five post; I’ll share more pics then BUT, Tallahassee was involved in the great Tally Snow Storm of 2025. If we’re being honest though, the storm brought lots of snow to places like Galveston, Houston, N.O. and Pensacola BUT…
- Over here, we got ice. It was basically a layer of ice. Sure, it’s pretty and looks like snow but it’s damn 2 or so inches of packed ice.
- We woke up early yesterday to hit the hill at the playground. Ash drove, since he’s driven in these conditions before. We only had a little trouble getting back out of the parking lot, which was on a slope.
- Kids had fun tubing and boogie boarding down the hills. In 2012, we drove to Chicago with the boys and bought two sledding tubes, which we never used because it didn’t snow enough! Came in handy this year though!
- Here’s how you know I am a true Floridian though: this is pretty and we had fun but um, go away now. Ash and I took a walk this morning and I don’t like sliding all over the dang road, since whatever managed to melt yesterday just refroze in the night. And I have actually snow boots!
- Also, we are not normally this cold for this long. Where I live in Florida, January-March are the coldest months but we’ll do a week of 20/40 and then go back to 50s. I don’t think it’s going to 50 until Saturday.
- Luckily by Sunday, we’re going back to 64/35. A huge swing but at least It’ll melt all this.
- Obviously the kids don’t have school and Ash, no work. No one down here knows how to drive in this and they can’t have buses running. It’s both nice and annoying: everyone please go back to work now so I can work here, along, like I typically do!
- I don’t know how y’all northerners live with this; I feel trapped by this. I certainly don’t want to go out in it, though I am pretty confident that if I took it slowly and carefully, I could get to the store just fine.
- OK, I am going to post 2 photos and a video as my 11-13 points. Enjoy them!

Sledding is fun- that is it when it comes to ice and snow! Your kids are old enough that they will remember this for sure! Were there a lot of kids out sledding? I could see many not being willing to drive anywhere they didn’t need to go with icy roads. You do have nice warm temps coming up soon. Think how warm 60 will feel!
This storm was so weird. I don’t ever recall seeing snow covering the sand on the Alabama coast!! I’ve been fascinated by the pictures of Orange Beach. I imagine your kids had a great time! My problem is that I never have enough winter clothes to play outside for long.
We had been getting warning about snow and cold, but when all waws said and done, we didn’t get any. It’s been colder than a snowman’s backside, though…
