Currently… late to this one this week

LOVING |

That we’ve been working our way through Christmas movies. We were kind of lazy last year and didn’t get as many in. So far, we’ve seen Christmas Vacation, Elf, and Edward Scissorhands.

LOOKING FORWARD TO |

Though it means I’m one step closer tot he uncertainty of spring term classes, I am definitely excited that my on-campus courses end, well, today. This semester, I drove 25 minutes to campus on Tuesdays and Thursday, spending from about 9-4 out of the house. I know this sounds whiny considering that’s a great schedule, but when you are home the other days, you think about how much gets done. I am looking forward to the next couple weeks when it’s just me here. Then everyone will be home for a few weeks.

BUYING |

Well, obviously Xmas gifts. We already told the kids that this year is one or two larger gifts and maybe some smaller things. We have a lot of things coming up in 2025, including my oldest graduating high school and our 20 year anniversary, so this will be a lean year. Plus, these kids got a two week vacation across America this past summer so, there ya go. I picked up a new phone for Dakota and Elliot is getting a mattress.

HOPING |

That one of these campus jobs I applied to call me back. My plan is to reach out to contacts next week. I was talking to a friend of mine who has recently been hired as a full time prof at the community college and she was saying that I ought to tell them that the reason I’m the person for the job is because I’m a runner. I scoffed but she went on to say that runners know how to train and work through something difficult for long periods of time. This really resonated with me and I thought about it for weeks but you know, she’s right. My plan is to rework my cover letter and literally say it shouldn’t have to follow a format, then launch into why my training and parenting has made me the kind of person they should hire.

BAKING |

I am not currently making anything but I plan to. We’ll probably make cookies soon.

  1. That’s a really interesting insight about what makes you the right person for a job and how to present yourself that way. Hope the rework of your resume really pays off! And that your holidays are happy! Visiting from Currently, a a little late. 🙂
