Friday Faves and 5 – Post-holiday blah

WELL, it is Friday and somehow this holiday week is moving along too quickly. After Tuesday and working, I feel like the time has spiraled. Wednesday was brewing and food prep, then yesterday, etc. OK, let’s do the (very few) faves and then I’ll five you.

THIS FANART |

You know me; when I am stressed and overwhelmed I get back into something useless. For this week, it’s my current ship. Don’t tell me this didn’t exist in those movies because good Lord. I guess I always did like pirates…

CHARCUTERIE |

Ok, frivolities aside, I made a board on a budget for Wednesday and it went over very well. Yes, I did put gummi bears on my charcuterie. Who says you can’t?

HAVING TIME, BEING HONEST |

No picture here but for a little while there I was so stressed and on a deadline and then, once I was done on Tuesday, I could breathe a sigh of relief. I felt a little unburdened. I was not thinking about the Spring semester or anything at all. And part of it was when Ash and I watched a movie from 1995 I’d never heard of, Home For The Holidays. It wasn’t great but it was a Thanksgiving family drama type and we both cried and I told him how I was worried and you know, my biggest stress is from letting people down. So now he knows and I am not hiding anymore. Ok, that was a long ramble about personal life details but hey, who cares?

FRIDAY FIVE:

  1. How was your Thanksgiving? Our meal turned out really well and I took zero photos. Oh well! We all (minus Elliot) ran the Turkey Trot 5k. Only Isaac got a respectable time at 28:30, which is amusing since he hasn’t been training and soccer has been over for nearly a month. Weather was crap and Ash and I had been biking more than running anyway.
  2. I’m sick. Well, kind of. I guess it’s a cold? I had a sore throat Wednesday but I felt fine, motivated even. Thursday morning my throat was BAD but after the race (which was also awful due to constricting lungs and a general bone-deep tiredness) the throat problem went away. After I cooked and all, it finally hit me; I kept sneezing and an allergy pill didn’t help. My face is sore, my muscles ache. No fever. Just tired and worn out. I slept really well last night, despite a cough that’s settling in. This morning I feel…ok. It’s early still. I find I can make it through most of the day but then by evening, I’m done.
  3. It’s supposed to rain today then the real cold is coming. It got into the 50s last night but our overnight is 34 then the next day, 31. Oof. Time for ye olde heated blanket to make its appearance for sure!
  4. Our friend asked if we wanted to ride on Saturday but we’ll see. I don’t want to go out too early if those are the temps! I’d be happy going later then stopping into The Hub. If you start your ride from the greenway trailhead, it’s about seven miles to a taproom. We’ve gone there many times but never biked it. Could be fun, and we have discussed it before. We shall see how I feel tomorrow though.
  5. Today’s agenda mainly consists of me catching up on grading. This holiday happened to fall during a particularly busy week for most of my online courses so that kind of sucks. No one is up yet so I am free to work on things now though, as you can see, I am blogging also. We might go see Wicked later but also, how much work can I get done this morning? We’ll see!

  1. Gummies on a charcuterie! Home for the Holidays looks vaguely familiar, like I’ve seen some scenes but never the whole thing. Maybe we’ll watch it to get into the season. Good on you for “no more hiding”

Electric blanket – I should get one… Enjoy what’s left of your week “off”!

  2. Your charcuterie looks great! I’m all about a little sweet treat included with the salty snacks there. We had a nice Thanksgiving and drove home today. I’ve given my hubs the ‘time to put the tree up’ pep talk so that will happen tomorrow. It turned cold here yesterday but I kind of like it. Feels like Christmas is in the air. Have a nice week!
