The weekend that was…interesting

Hey y’all, happy Monday! I woke up with a headache, presumably from weather. But let us recap!

Thursday night, we had about 26 folks attend our monthly homebrew club meeting. From the start of this year until now, we’ve regrown the club exponentially! Back when we first joined in 2017, I think probably 30-40 people came every time. Covid and poor leadership shrank our numbers and we used to have maybe 10-14 each month. I’m really proud of our progress, though we are outgrowing our space!

Luckily, this brewery is building a new tasting room and he had us in mind; a larger meeting space is exactly the thing we need.

Friday, Ash and I were both home, as we usually are, and we decided to go ahead and brew a red ale.

Hopefully it turns out well; we have a few events early on in 2025 we need to be prepared for. After brewing, we went to lunch with a friend. I went home after to do work and clean stuff and Ash went and saw a movie I wasn’t interested in. By 6, we had a meeting to attend. I think we got some good work done and we did plan ahead some events for homebrew club, 2025.

I know we didn’t do too much that evening other than drink water in prep for our Saturday ride. Of course it was a bit colder that day – ugh – but it turned out to be a nice day. Ash and I planned to ride to Thomasville, which was about 28 miles. We stopped into their only bagel shop – which was way crowded! – and got some food. We also had one beer at T’Velo and got back on the bikes after about 45 mins-1 hour. The entire ride was about 57 HILLY miles but enjoyable overall.

We were pretty beat after so we iced our knees and took showers and relaxed a bit before seeing Red One with two of the kids. It wasn’t bad; more enjoyable than expected anyway!

Oh, I forgot to mention that my oldest had this idea that he and my middle would go watch one of their oldest friends run in his final XC meet of his high school career. Too bad it coincided with our ride but they had a nice time cheering him on.

Sunday was a free day so I eased into it, did some grocery shopping and started laundry. Made chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn, then we basically just watched football all day. That is, until the evening when we had a fire.

That about does it. Ash is out of town attending a conference this week and I have to hardcore catch up on all my online classes. In some ways, it’s nice because he and I end up doing so much on the days we are both home (Mondays and Fridays) so I get a free day to myself today. At least until about 2. I told Elliot I’d pick Isaac up from the gym so he could go and get a workout in before he has to go work tonight. Isaac could ride the bus but he hates it and well, I am too nice!

  1. Congrats on long ride and a successful brew club! That is really nice that your two boys went to cheer on a friend. Good luck this week with Ash being gone- sounds like you have a good attitude about it! Happy Monday!

  2. A red ale is my hubs favorite. Hope it works out. I ordered cards from Shutterfly this year. I had a coupon, plus they had a 40% off special happening the day I ordered (it might still be happening) so the price wasn’t too crazy. Good luck managing all the things solo this week!
