I only have a few faves from the week and some didn’t have an accompanying photo.
BREAKFAST ON THE RIDE |
This gas station/country store/Buc-ees-type place in Wakulla was exactly 25 miles from our start loc and we pinned them as having some breakfast items. They are clearly all hand made too, which is what I expect in the country. Wakulla county is where the more country folk live near us and they did not disappoint. Excellent biscuits for our halfway point.
PLAYING BOWLING WITH OUR DAUGHTER |
We have Silverstrike bowling in the house and she never plays when we do but she chose to Monday, and did pretty well!
Other faves this week include: making a nice meal on Tuesday everyone liked. I am always amazed that my entire family likes this chicken I make, that is so basic, it’s shocking. Literally, just chicken breasts seasoned with s&p, garlic and onion powders, pan-seared in butter and olive oil. That’s it. Though, fair to say, I also let them rest some before eating and it makes them juicy.
The Mexican food we had Monday night after the long ride. I definitely didn’t want to cook after that and on a holiday and my little bowl of goodness had me thinking about it all week.
FRIDAY FIVE:
- The aforementioned issue I had with a student panned out. I answered the phone the second time the woman called and it turns out the kid made the error but his mom works at the school so she was kind of having a hissy fit about it. But I mean, he still had to do the work and since he didn’t do work since week 6 but emailed me in week 10, it was more on him anyway. He was claiming I was ignoring emails but I was definitely not.
- It’s finally cool out today, which is nice and all but makes me dread 60 miles tomorrow. It will only feel cold when we first start, I know, but still. I always yearn for the summer temps to go away then regret that; I do not like being cold!
- I will say though, if it’s cool tomorrow evening we ARE having a fire. We built that new fire pit but it hasn’t been nice enough out to even use it!
- Brew Club last night was highly attended; granted, two of the people were from the Humane Society because once, long ago, the homebrew club in Tally supported a festival called Pints for Paws. For a few dif reasons – Covid, being sued by some random place in Cali who laid claim to the name – we stopped running it. Well, one of our old-timers got it up and running again with the help of some other folks and we are now putting it on in January. They’re super excited, for the animals and all, and I am excited because as soon as it was gone, the number of people who asked about its return was astounding. Looking forward to it in a couple months.
- In fact, we are brewing a red ale right now, so I must go, as the boil kettle has just now come to temp. Have a good weekend!

I´m glad that everything worked out with the student! Yah to yummy food! Hope you were able to have a fire in the pit :).
