MMMM + This time of year is busy

Happy Monday, everyone. It was quite the weekend, let me tell you! I mentioned in my Friday 5 that we went to Trivia on Thursday so that was a nice way to start things off. Friday, we planned to leave kind of early to get a ride in, knowing the weekend would be too busy. So Ash and I went to St. Marks to do 40 miles, flat.

It was decent weather and we even went a slightly different way to check out another bike trail, which does go all the way down and along the coast. We were only on it for about 8 miles but we stopped to take our pic on the river though.

I was pretty beat by the time we got to 36 miles – in fact, we both were – so we rested a bit before finishing. We had cramps too so next time, we’ll need salt or sugar or some kind of supplements. On the way home I was determined to pick up some Gatorade, which I never drink but figured I needed after that. Went into the store and they had no cold Gatorade! They had every other dumb sugar drink you could want but not that. I was kind of mad, tbh. Stopped into the gas station and at least they had it. Got home and showered and then went for Mexican before doing nothing at all. The boys were already home because it was pep rally day and they always skip. I tried to take a nap but never really could fall asleep. So I got up and did some work before heading back out.

Our plans for the night included: going to Amicus to try the collaboration amber we as a club had done with them back on the 5th. It was fantastic!

Then, it was Zoobilee time. It’s a long-time tradition here in town and the best way to describe it is an adult costume party with all you can eat and drink. Ash and I had friends going who’d convinced us to go. I think we got our money’s worth, with a total of 8 beers and multiple plates of bbq. If I’d been in the right mood I’d probably have tried a lot more of the other food. Only took one pic because it was chaotic, but I think we had fun.

We had promised a friend of Ash’s that we’d stop by his annual party afterwards. I was pretty tired but we managed. It was a very weird setting since we didn’t know anyone. I guess it was mostly this guy’s wife’s friends and some of the people he plays soccer with. Which was how we got to talking to this women we used to know. Her boys were the same ages as mine and were in classes together in elementary school. And funny enough, her son was on one of the teams my son played this weekend in the tournament.

Saturday morning we got up and headed to Thomasville for 11 and 3:30 games.

They should have tied the first game but it was a bad call. The second game was awful and they got their butts handed to them. In between though, we went to a greasy spoon burger/hot dog place that was really good. Ash and I were admittedly a little worse for wear after the night before so that burger hit the spot.

When we got home that afternoon, we decided not to go to a friend’s costume party. We were just so tired from the biking and all the other activities. I let Dakota go though because she had been excited to wear her costume, which I guess is from some Zombies movie? I dunno.

She spent the night with her friends and I literally sat in my chair all evening. I was so beat down!

Sunday morning I felt a million times better, thankfully. Isaac had one more game at 11 so I took him, since Ash wanted to run and there was football and to be honest, they were not going to win the tournament anyway. So at the start of the season, the club wanted to create another semi-travel team so some kids from his team defected to that one. Isaac wanted to but I didn’t want to be out of town 3/4 weekends a month. Anyway, they played that team in the final game of the thing and they won 2-0! It was a really good game too.

Isaac played really well, considering he had to play a position he normally does not. All I ever want is to see my kids enjoying the things they like. I am glad they got a win in the end; they didn’t leave feeling entirely dejected. We got home and had lunch then watched football while I did laundry and other various things. I was so glad we’d chosen to skip the other activity and then just hang around here. I was able to catch up on a good many things.

This morning, I am going to make all my lectures for my students and get organized and then, I may bike about 6 miles, just to keep moving.

It’s a freebie week and I haven’t really been listening to anything specifically but I am loving these channels.

  1. October is the new May maybe? lol. Seems like everyone is super busy with multiple activities every weekend. Yours sounds fun. We have an out of town wedding next weekend so will basically miss Halloween as we have to travel. I enjoy a good costume party. Hope you have a nice week!

  2. Your weekend sounds busy but really good! Your costumes are really cute and dressing up is always fun. Congrats on all the bike riding as well. I like how you do that activity together. My husband likes to bike but it’s somewhat low on his list of things he enjoys- he works so much during the week and then with only two days to do the things he really likes, taking the time to bike doesn’t make the cut. Glad your son’s team got a V on Sunday!

  3. I am so impressed with the length of your bike rides!! Your costumes are great! I ordered VERY CHEAP costumes from Amazon for us for a party on Tuesday night. One is a toothbrush and the other is toothpaste. Mark isn’t thrilled hahaha!

  4. Nice full weekend. It’s a great time of year for long bike rides! I always keep a few packets of fruit gummies on hand if I need a small energy boost.
