MMMM + Time is going too quickly!

Lordy Lordy, where does the time go? Back in the office and it doesn’t seem real. I woke up in kind of a bad mood but it’s turning around. I’m focusing on being present and getting things done. I even have a list! Good for me.

Anyway, let’s go back to Friday. I left around 1 so I could go to the store for sandwich things and as soon as Ash and I had eaten, we ran some errands. Our in-club competition for blonde ales was Saturday and we decided we’d better come up with some kind of award. We had nice medals (that we printed sticker inserts for) for the people who bottled and got assessed by official judges but for those we judged just as a club, as amateurs, we made them. They turned out pretty well, considering. Below, Sherlock who got 3rd place. Terry, in red, got 2nd, but that one got a little messed up so no pics.

But yes, he and I worked on those all Friday evening, as well as setting things up and cleaning. I can’t remember what all else we did though! We didn’t watch any Olympics opening ceremony stuff though.

Saturday, we got right up and cleaned other areas and I worked outside some while Isaac mowed. I took Dakota to a friend’s house to swim and picked up pizzas, and then by noon, folks were showing up. We ate and did a little can share until 2 when we began our competition. We had 20 people total at the party but only 14 chose to judge the beers. When 14 people get 5 tasters each, it’s a lot!

We have this one guy in the club who is a bit insufferable; he was president last year and didn’t do much of anything but he’s one of those people who talks a big game. Well, sadly, he got the highest score from the official judges AND our club. Sigh; he’s going to have an even bigger head now!

The last people rolled out by 5:30, so that was nice. We cleaned up a bit and Elliot and Ash watched a movie; Koda came home around 8 and her friend spent the night.

Sunday morning, I got up and drank my coffee slowly, the only one up until Ell had to get ready for work. I ran nearly 3 miles (I think my calculations were off) and then went up to the store and made pico and guac. We had tacos for lunch and then? I literally did nothing but laundry and watch movies. We did tidy up a bit more but I really didn’t do much else. Dakota’s friend came over to swim and I know the boys were in and out with friends but I really didn’t want to do much.

It was a nice weekend but we now have to turn our attention to the upcoming beer festival. Next weekend we have no plans except to go to dinner for our daughter’s 11th birthday and then the next weekend is fest. We are mostly done; I’m working on the names of the beers we will serve and the displays. Ash is finishing some other aspects. I have to paint the guitar tap handles at some point too. I know it’ll all get done, if we really work hard anyway.

Music Monday’s theme this week is songs that make you think of a tropical paradise. Ooh, I have some.

  1. Yes you do have some great songs here and I needed to hear them so I could relax!!!!! After reading about your busy weekend 😊.There is always one know it all either at work or in a club/ fun situation…. They will get their comeuppence 🙂 excuse my ignorance but what is “pico and guac.” Is that something with Guacamole? Have a great week 💜💜

  2. Oh, I should have been clear, I made both guacamole and pico de gallo, since I had extra onions and jalapenos. One of these days, I’ll take pictures!

  3. Sounds like a nice weekend! Whenever people come over to our house, I find it stressful but it forces me to clean and sometimes, even, to tackle a small home project we have been putting off! I am also generally glad when I have taken the effort, afterward, that I did it. I hope your Monday is a good one!

  4. What a busy, busy weekend as usual! I’ll pass on the beer tasting but I love chips and dip! I haven’t made salsa in a long time. I really need to do that but we’re kind of laying of tortilla chips because DH is a bit sensitive to corn. I’m not a Jimmy Buffet fan but “Happily Ever After” is a nice song. “Key Largo” is a good choice for this week’s theme and it’s a great oldie! In no time summer will be over, I need to enjoy these last days of paradise even if you don’t like the heat because soon it’ll be too cold. Nice song picks. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  5. Great song collection. We are long time “parrot heads” from our days of traveling to Key West for days of SCUBA diving and such. That’s a really happy memory. Wish I could of joined y’all for the beer tasting. Bet that was yummy. And such fun with the awards. Well done. 💙

  6. Poco was one of my favorites back in the day. I still love their old stuff. Hubs and I saw them about ten years ago at a small venue in NJ and when they played Heart of the Night they subbed an accordian for the sax. Nobody was happy lol. Barbados is one of my all time faves still. Glad you had a good weekend!

  7. Such a nice playlist after a hectic day at work. I love good guac made with chunks and not the pureed stuff they sell in stores ready made (at least around here. Enjoy your beer – with me now, four or more tastings would probably make me fall asleep. Alana ramblinwitham
